The Wyoming girls and boys basketball teams played much better in Billings than they did Friday night in Sheridan. the girls fell behind early but roared back and took a second half lead before falling behind in the 4th quarter, Montana took the game 83-76.Wyoming's Taylor Gardner says they had a lot to prove Saturday after losing by 31 points on Friday.Gardner says they were resolved to play better Saturday and even though they lost they were happy with the way they played. Wyoming girls coach Frank McCarthy says Saturday night's performance was very satisfying. The three Sheridan county girls led the way Saturday Morgan Mines scored 25 points, Gardner had 18 and Katie Stranholm had 12.

The boys game Saturday was one of the best games in the last decade with the Wyoming boys avenging Friday night's blow-out loss by winning in overtime. The Wyoming all-stars fell behind 28-8 after the first quarter Friday and never got back in the game losing 117-90. Saturday's game was much different Montana had a seven point halftime lead but Wyoming tied it after three quarters and the game was on in the final seconds of the game with Wyoming down 74-71 Rage Geringer from Guernsey hit a huge three point basket to send the game into overtime. In overtime Geringer hit two more three's and as a team they went 10 of 14 from the free throw line and won 90-86.Geringer who will play at Sheridan college this fall says they wanted to come back strong after being embarrassed in sheridan friday. Wyoming coach Steve Smiley says the players responded after taking a bad loss.Geringer led the scoring with 20 points.

The 2009 Wyoming shrine bowl football game will go down as a 3-3 tie after thunder storms forced the game to be canceled in the 2nd quarter Saturday night in Casper. The game was delayed twice in the first quarter because of lightning. The game then was officially called off two and half minutes into the second quarter with the game tied at three.

The Sheridan media golf tournament was played at Kendrick golf course this past Friday. The tournament raised over 11 thousand dollars for the Sheridan public arts committee's purchase of two new sculptures for the new early childhood education center a big thank you to the sponsors and players for making the event another big success.

The annual big horn mountain wild and scenic trail run will start Friday in the Tongue river canyon. check in for the 100 mile racers is Thursday the 100 mile event gets started Friday morning at 6 o'clock. The 50 mile, 50k and 30k races will all get underway Saturday the event will culminate with an awards breakfast on Grinnell plaza Sunday morning.

The Sheridan Troopers play at home today, they play a double header with Spearfish South Dakota the first game will get underway this afternoon at 4 o'clock.

The NBA finals goes to the Los Angeles Lakers. Last night the Lakers took the series winning game five 99-86.it is the 4th title for Kobe Bryant and the 10th overall for head coach Phil Jackson.

The Colorado Rockies winning streak has reached 11 straight after sweeping three from the Seattle Mariners. The Rockies beat the mariners 7-1 yesterday it's the longest winning streak for the Rockies since their world series run late in the 2007 season. They are off today and open a home series with the Tampa Bay Rays tomorrow.
