12/30/05 The Tongue River Eagles and Lady Eagles open up the new year next Friday with road games at Moorcroft. The Tongue River programs are led by the husband and wife team of Larry and Diane Moser. Larry says it’s been a lot of ups and downs over the years and they’ve relied on each other to get through the tough times and been able to enjoy the great times as well. Diane is in her 32nd year as the Lady Eagles head coach. She’s in the Wyoming and national coaches hall of fame and just picked up her 500th career victory The Big Horn Rams and Lady Rams will open 2006 on January 13th with road games at Big Horn. Lady Rams head coach Mike Daley says they’ve been working hard over the break. The Sheridan Bronc swimmers and divers will dual at Worland next Thursday and have their home opener a week from today against Gillette. Two Broncs have already qualified for the state meet in multiple events and in the next few weeks all of them should make the qualifying standards. The Sheridan College Generals and Lady Generals will be back in town this weekend to begin preparation for the second half of the season. They both play next Saturday at Western Wyoming in Rocksprings. The Generals are 12-2 and have won 11 in a row and with a few more victories should crack into the national top 20 poll rankings. Head coach Joel Davidson says they have played well at times but the players have the chance to be much better. Both teams play at home on January 13th against Northeastern Colorado. The Sheridan Broncs will open 06 with home games next Friday and Saturday against Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central. Head coach Mike Ibach says he’s looking forward to getting the Broncs back on the court. The Lady Broncs are off until Tuesday when they resume practice. They play at the Cheyenne schools next week. The Lady Broncs have 11 straight road games to open the season. Following those games they’ll play at Laramie to make it 12 in a row on the road before their home opener January 17th against Buffalo. Head coach Mark Elliott says next weekend will be a good test for the Lady Broncs. The Sheridan Hawks high school hockey team will be playing two non-league games this weekend. They’ll be in Billings tomorrow and Sunday. Next week they host league games in Sheridan Saturday and Sunday. They play next Saturday at 7:30 am and 5 pm and Sunday at 9:45 and 12:30. Admission to all games in Sheridan are free. A good cross country ski report this morning. Curt Schwamb from the Black Mountain Nordic Club says the mountains got six inches of new snow and all trails will be groomed and ready for a great weekend of skiing. The club will be hosting a cross-country ski clinic for experienced and novice skiers Monday at 11 o’clock at the Sibley Trails. They’ll meet at the top of the hill near the campground. The Wyoming Cowboys will be in action tomorrow. The Pokes play Weber State tomorrow afternoon and you can hear the game live on am 14-10 KWYO. Pre-game starts at 1:30 the tip is at 2 o’clock 12/29/05 The Sheridan Lady Bronc basketball players and coaches have taken a break from the practice court to finished up the Holiday Hoop Camp. They’ll resume practice next week as they prepare to open up the New Year with a road trip to Cheyenne. Just before the holiday break the team received a huge blow when starting point guard Kelly Garriffa went down with a season ending knee injury. Head coach Mark Elliott says the rest of the players have to take up the slack with Garriffa gone for the year. The Lady Broncs will play Cheyenne Central and East on the road next week and follow that up with a road game at Laramie. Central and Laramie beat the Lady Broncs in Cheyenne earlier this month and Elliott says they’ll be ready for the re-match. The Sheridan Broncs holiday break ended Monday when they got back in the gym with nine practices scheduled before they host games with Cheyenne East and Central next week. Head coach Mike Ibach says the Broncs got off to a rough start this season starting 1-8 overall but the players and coaches have been able to keep those games in perspective and are staying positive. The players have done a good job of keeping their focus on just trying to improve every day. Ibach says they have a week and a half to get ready to host games with Cheyenne East and Central. They host East next Friday at 7:30 and Saturday they play in the afternoon with central at 1:30. Cross-country ski conditions are expected to improve over the next couple of days in the Big Horn Mountains. According to Kurt Schwamb from the Black Mountain Nordic Club trail conditions have varied quite a bit over the last week from excellent on the “cat walk” to “scary fast” at prune creek. Schwamb says several inches of snow are expected over the next two days and conditions should improve. The club is hosting a “free” cross-country ski clinic Monday at the Sibley Trails at 11 o’clock. All cross-country skiers and any beginners are invited to participate. They will meet at the top of the hill near the campgrounds. The club has also formed a “Ski Buddies” group for anyone looking for someone to ski with or to share rides. Contact Kurt Schwamb or stop by the clinic Monday for more information. The University of Wyoming Cowboys are 6-5 overall and coming off an 84-69 loss Tuesday against Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Next up for the Cowboys is a New Years Eve afternoon game with Weber State. You can hear the game live on am 14-10 KWYO Saturday starting with the pre-game show at 1:30 the tip is at 2 o’clock. 12/28/05 The Sheridan Bronc swimmers received some good news prior to the Christmas break. A couple of divers have joined the four swimmers and head coach Larry White says it’s been a nice addition to the team. Qualifying for the state meet doesn’t look to be a problem for this year’s swimmers and White says getting qualified early allows them to concentrate more on getting faster. The Broncs have been a hard working group. The Broncs open 2006 January 5th at Worland and at home against Gillette on the 6th. The Tongue River Eagles and Lady Eagles ended 2005 ranked in the top 5 in class 2-A. The Lady Eagles hold a familiar spot at the top of the rankings with Wyoming Indian right behind. The Lady Chiefs get most of the state wide coverage as they did last season and the Lady Eagles will be content to just quietly pile up more wins. Remember the Lady Eagles embarrassed the highly touted Lady Cheifs at the state tournament last spring. The Lady Eagles are unbeaten at 8-0 overall. Head coach Diane Moser says they keep it pretty low key during the break. The Lady Eagles open 06 with a home game with Big Horn on the 13th. The Eagles are off to great start as well and enter 06 as the number 5 ranked team in class 2-A. Head coach Larry Moser says they were pleased with their first eight games and are getting in some good work over the break. The Eagles host the Big Horn Rams on January 13th. The Big Horn Rams and Lady Rams open 2006 at Tongue River on the 6th and host games with Wright on the 7th. The Sheridan Bronc and Lady Bronc basketball teams finish up the holiday hoop camp today at Sheridan High School. Both teams open up the New Year with games against the Cheyenne schools. The Lady Broncs split with East and Central opening weekend and will travel back to Cheyenne to play both teams again. Head coach Mike Ibach says the Broncs have a great opportunity to turn the tables on both teams next week. The Broncs host Cheyenne East Friday night January 6th and Central Saturday afternoon on the 7th and Ibach says he’s excited to get the Broncs back on the court. The Sheridan College Generals and Lady Generals will be back in town this weekend. Both teams travel for games at Western Wyoming January 7th. They’re both at home on the 13th against Northeastern Colorado. The Wyoming Cowboys lost at home last night against Wisconsn-Milwaukee 84-69. You can hear it live Saturday starting with the Cowboy pre-game show at 1:30, the tip is at 2 o’clock. 12/27/05 The Sheridan Broncs and Lady Broncs host the Holiday Hoop Camp today and tomorrow at Sheridan High School. The camp is open to boys and girls in the 3rd through 8th grades. The first girl’s session starts this morning at nine. They’ll start taking registration at 8:30 the cost is 15 dollars per camper. The boys will go this afternoon following their session. The Broncs will start the first of nine practices over the break. Head coach Mike Ibach says the next two weeks are important for the Broncs. They open ‘06 with home games against Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central. Those games will be Friday night the 6th against Cheyenne East and Saturday afternoon against Central. The Lady Broncs comeback with road games at both Cheyenne schools and Laramie. Laramie and Central beat the Lady Broncs on the first weekend of the season and they are looking for another shot at both teams. Head coach Mark Elliott says they’ve got to get more consistent play. The Cheyenne road trip is the 6th and 7th of January then down to Laramie on the 13th. They play their home opener January 17th against Buffalo. The Sheridan Bronc wrestlers will spend most of January and February on the road. In fact they only have one more home date on their schedule February 9th when they host a conference dual with Gillette. The Broncs ended 2005 with a 50-20 dual win over Billings West. The 2006 season of high school indoor track begins Wednesday January 4th with the Broncs and Lady Broncs first practice. This season head coach Art Baures is expecting over 50 athletes to compete. They don’t have an indoor practice facility so after school on nice days they try and practice outside if not long hallways at the school serve as running lanes. The Sheridan College basketball teams will be back in Sheridan for practice next week. They open 2006 road games at Western Wyoming in Rocksprings January 7th then at home against Northeastern Colorado January 13th. The pre-game show starts at 6:30 with the tip at 7 o’clock. 12/23/05 The Wyoming Chapter of the National Football Foundation & College Football Hall of Fame has announced their nomination’s for Wyoming’s high school scholar athletes for 2005. The list includes several players from Sheridan and Johnson Counties. Sheridan high school has three players on the list they are Steven Balkenbush, JD Dudrey and Reece Hall. Two players from Big Horn were nominated they are Carl Nowikowski and Mike Thurow. Tony Ostheimer was the lone Tongue River Eagle to make the roster and five players from the class 4-A state champion Buffalo Bison made the list they are Chris Prozinski, John Camino, Josh Smith, Spencer Young and Kyle Cummings. Criteria for this award includes GPA, play on the field, citizenship and community service. The Wyoming Cowboys got a monster game from Justin Williams last night in their 75-69 win over SMU. Williams hit for15 points added 15 rebounds and blocked 7 shots. The Pokes have Christmas weekend off and will host Wisconsin-Milwaukee Tuesday night before a New Year’s Eve game with Weber State. Curt Schwamb from the black mountain Nordic Club in Sheridan says cross country skiers should find good conditions for holiday skiing in the Big Horns. Schwamb says trail grooming was done Wednesday night and last night on the dog trails. Sibley was groomed Sunday. Schwamb says he was on the campground loops last night and the trails are firm but overall are in great shape. The club is tentatively planning on hosting a ski clinic for those interested New Year’s weekend. The clinics will be free and will help with basic cross country skiing we will have more information on the clinics next week. On the local basketball scene for parents wanting an activity for their 3rd through 8th graders the 13th Annual Holiday Hoop Camp will be held at Sheridan High School Tuesday and Wednesday. The camp is set up for teaching basketball fundamentals and is split into boys and girls sessions. The girls will go from 9 to 11 and the boys from 11 to 1 both days the cost is 15 dollars per camper. They will take registration Tuesday before each session begins. Camp clinicians will be the Sheridan Bronc and Lady Bronc basketball teams and their coaches. That’s Tuesday and Wednesday next week at Sheridan High School. The Denver Broncos have two games left in the regular season. The indoor track season opens for the Broncs and Lady Broncs, their first practice is January 4th and the Bronc swimmers open 2006 with a meet in Worland on January 5th. The basketball season fires back up on Friday January 6th. If you’re looking for a holiday activity for your kids the Sheridan Bronc and Lady Bronc basketball teams will host the 13th Annual Holiday Hoop Camp for 3rd through 8th grade boys and girls next week on Tuesday and Wednesday. Lady Bronc players and coaches will host the girl’s session from 9 to 11 each day. The Broncs will host the boys from 11 to 1. All proceeds go to purchase basketball equipment for Sheridan schools. The cost is 15 dollars per camper and registration will be taken when the first sessions begin Tuesday. The Broncs will open their holiday workouts following the camp session Tuesday and from1-8 they’ll be getting some good work done on the practice court. The Bison made a 4th quarter run to break open a three-point game and went on to beat the Broncs 60-50. The Broncs played the number one ranked Bison tough, down at the half by six, they took a brief lead in the in the 3rd. The Bison got hot and hit some big three’s to start the 4th quarter, built up a 15 point lead and went onto win by ten. The Broncs have had their struggles at 1-8 on the season but they put together a great effort last night. Now its on to the Christmas break and they’ll get a lot of practice in over the next two weeks. The Broncs open 2006 with home games January 6th and 7th against Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central. The Sheridan Bronc wrestlers ended 2005 with a great dual win at home last night. The Broncs took their first dual of the season beating up Billings West by the score of 50-20. Buffalo is unbeaten and ranked number one this week in class 3-A and Bronc head coach Ibach says they know it’s going to be a challenge on Buffalo’s home court. Bronc senior Tyler Thomas re-injured his right thumb in Green River. The Injury first took place during the Bronc’s football season. Thomas continues to practice and play. Ibach says he really admires Thomas’ toughness. We will broadcast tonight’s game live for you on am 14-10 KWYO. The tip is scheduled for 7:30. The Bronc wrestlers host a dual tonight against Billings West. Head coach Corey Hamrick says they’ve wrestled two other Billings schools and expect a good test from West tonight. Varsity matches begin at 7 o’clock up at Sheridan High School. The Sheridan Lady Bronc basketball team takes a 6-3 record into the Christmas break. They’ve won five straight. Head coach Mark Elliott says they expected some growing pains through the first few weeks of the season. Elliott says it’s time for a break. On the injury front starting point guard Kelly Garriffa went down with a knee injury in Green River last weekend. Preliminary exams show a ligament tear. More tests are scheduled next week. The Lady Broncs open the new year with three road games with both Cheyenne schools and Laramie. They play their home opener January 17th against Buffalo. Coming up on January 4th the Wyoming high school indoor track season opens with the first practice for the Broncs and Lady Broncs. Head coach Art Bauers has already held his pre-season team meeting and he expects at least 55 athletes to participate. He’s says indoor track has had a great impact on their spring outdoor season. Baures says the indoor season is great for those students who are not currently participating in a winter activities. The Wyoming Cowboys beat Montana State last Saturday in Casper. This week the Pokes are back in Laramie for a home game Thursday night against SMU. The game will be broadcast live on am 14-10 KWYO starting at 6:30. Next week the Pokes host a game with Wisconsin Milwaukee Tuesday night and a game against Weber State New Year’s Eve. 12/16/05 The Sheridan Broncs won two matches last night in their dual with Casper-Natrona. The wins came early in the match with Robert Walters and Micha Kadera picking up decisions, but it was all N-C after that, beating the Broncs 57-6. Corey Hamrick, the “Hammer” says staying positive and working hard this young bunch can be tough later in the season. Micha Kadera dominated his match and Robbie Walters made a great charge in the 3rd period to win his match. The Broncs get a well deserved rest as they are off this weekend. Next week they host another dual that match will be against Billings West Tuesday night at 7 o’clock. The Sheridan Bronc and Lady Bronc basketball teams split games in Green River last night in the opening round of the Flaming Gorge classic tournament. The Lady Broncs beat Green River while the Broncs lost against Rock Springs the tournament continues today and wraps up tomorrow. The Tongue River Eagles and Lady Eagles play at home tonight against Wright. The girls will go at 6 o’clock and the boys at 7:30. Tomorrow both teams play at Greybull. The Sheridan Bronc swimmers are in Cody for a dual meet today and they compete in the Riverton Invitational, tomorrow. The Wyoming Cowgirls and Cowboys both play in Casper tomorrow at the events center. The annual Jingle Jog for Kids will take place tomorrow. All runners and walkers interested in participating should meet at the Foot of the Bighorns in downtown Sheridan tomorrow morning. The run will begin at 11 o’clock. All runners are asked to bring a child’s toy for their registration fee the toys will go to the Toys for Tots program. The Sheridan Hawks pee wee hockey team that’s the (11-12 youth team) host a tournament this weekend. Games will be played Saturday and Sunday. The Hawks will play tomorrow against Cody at 8:15 in the morning and Riverton at 5 o’clock then on Sunday they’ll play Riverton again. The high school Hawks will play at an event in Cody tomorrow and Sunday. The high school team is 7-0 and will play games with Cody, Pinedale and Gillette. The high school team will host their own event January 7th and 8th. The 13th annual Sheridan Holiday Hoop Camp will be held December 27th and 28th at Sheridan High School, the camp is open to all boys and girls in the 3rd through 8th grades. The cost of the camp is 15 dollars per camper the girls camp will run both days from 9 to 11 am and the boys will go in the afternoon from 1 to 3 pm. Pre-registration will be taken before the first session begins on the 27th. The girl’s camp clinicians will be the Sheridan Lady Bronc coaches and players and the boys camp clinicians will be the Sheridan Bronc coaches and players. 12/15/05 The Sheridan Broncs got a much-needed victory on Tuesday. Head coach Mike Ibach says beating Worland gave the players some confidence, as they get ready to open the tournament today. Ibach says their three opponents will give them a great test. Following the Green River tournament the Broncs close out 2005 at B0uffalo next Tuesday. The Lady Broncs are 3-3 overall and their focus this week is to just get better. head coach Mark Elliott says with the Christmas and New Year’s break coming up, they are looking forward to getting back into the gym. Both the Broncs and Lady Broncs will host the 13th Annual Holiday Hoops Camp, December 27th and 28th. The camp is open to all 3rd through 8th grade boys and girls. The Sheridan Lady Bronc coaches and players will host the girls’ camp and the Broncs and their coaches will host the boys. The camp will be held at Sheridan High School. The girls will go each day from 9 to 11 and the boys from 1 to 3. The cost is 15 dollars per camper, and the focus of this camp is teaching and learning basketball fundamentals. The generals ended the first half of their season winning 11 straight and sit at 12-2 overall. The Lady Generals are 10-7 overall. Next week they host a dual with Billings West on Tuesday. 12/14/05 The Sheridan Broncs beat Worland by 18 last night to get their first win of the season. The Broncs were down by one after the first quarter but a second period run put them up eight at the break. Worland hung around until the Broncs pulled away in the 4th quarter. There were several nice performances last night especially from the big men Tim Thomas and Bernie Bornong. Bernie carried the load early and Thomas came on strong in the second half. Bornong scored a dozen Thomas had 14. Ibach was really pleased with the game of junior Jimmy Burgess. The Broncs will play three games this week at the Flaming Gorge Classic in Green River and end December next Tuesday at Buffalo. The Sheridan Bronc wrestlers were in Billings last night for duals against Skyview and Senior. Both Billings schools dominated. Skyview took the first dual 68-9 and Senior beat the Broncs 61-20. Tomorrow night the Broncs host a conference dual with Casper-Natrona starting at 6:30 they also host a dual with Billings Senior next Tuesday. The Sheridan Lady Bronc basketball team is 3-3 on the season they’ll join the Broncs Thursday for three games at the Flaming Gorge Classic tournament in Green River. White says now that the season has started they’ll continue to push hard in the pool during practice. The Broncs are looking for their first win of the season, after starting 0-5. The learning process continues for an inexperienced team according to Head Coach Mike Ibach. He says it’s nice to have a home date on the schedule after five straight on the road. We will broadcast tonight’s game live on am 14-10 KWYO starting at 7 o’clock. The Sheridan Bronc wrestlers will be in Billings tonight for duels with Billings Senior and Sky View. The Broncs were originally scheduled to host Senior tonight the match was moved to Billings with tonight’s basketball conflict. Since last week’s dual with Skyview was cancelled, they’ll make that duel up tonight. Also head coach Corey Hamrick says the Broncs are doing well after two tough weeks on the road. Tonight’s duals will be a great test for a young Bronc team and Hamrick says that all the wrestlers have made great progress over the last month. The Sheridan Bronc swimmers will be on the road this week. They have a dual in Cody, Friday, and compete at the Riverton Invitational on Saturday. After a good start to the season last week, Head Coach Larry White says the Broncs have another tough week in front of them. The Big Horn Rams and Lady Rams play at Moorcroft and then home with Lovell on Saturday. Lady Rams Head Coach Mike Daley says their experience in the Glenrock tournament was an eye opener for the girls. Rams Head Coach Josh Hatch says they face two pretty good teams this week. Varsity tips are at 2:30 and 4 o’clock on Friday. The Sheridan Lady Bronc basketball team plays three games at the Flaming Gorge Classic in Green River starting Thursday. Head coach Mark Elliott says, after the way they performed last week in Casper the players must get it turned around this week. The Tongue River Eagles and Lady Eagles play home games with Wright, Friday, and on the road at Greybull, Saturday. Varsity games Friday are at 6 and 7:30 pm. Tip-off at the events center is at 4 o’clock. 12/12/05 The Sheridan College Generals ended the first half of their season with two wins, over the weekend, at their own tournament. They’ve won 11 straight and stand at 12-2 overall with a chance to get into the national top 20 rankings this week. The Lady Generals dropped two games at a tournament in Scottsbluff, Nebraska over the weekend, losing to two top 10 ranked teams: Western Nebraska and Colby Kansas. The Big Horn Lady Rams went 0-3 at a road tournament with losses against Wyoming Indian, Lovell and Glenrock. Head Coach Mike Daley says his young team took some lumps, but they did have some good things come out of the weekend. The Rams played at the same tournament and went 1-2 with losses against Wyoming Indian and Glenrock. They beat Kaycee to finish off the tournament. The Sheridan Broncs dropped games against Green River and Mountain View in Casper. Head Coach Mike Ibach says they did play much better. Tomorrow night the Broncs play at home against Worland. They played well against Lander but not so well against their final two opponents. Head Coach Mark Elliott says the young Lady Broncs have a lot of growing up to do. The Lady Broncs will play three games at the Flaming Gorge Classic in Green River starting Thursday. The Sheridan Bronc wrestlers competed at an invitational in Rapid City over the weekend. For the second week in a row, the Broncs Micha Kadera was the top finisher placing second. The Bronc JV’s were at an invitational up in Forsyth, Montana and did very well. Tomorrow night the Broncs will compete in Billings. They’ll have a double duel with Billings Skyview and Billings Senior. The Sheridan Bronc swimmers had a pretty good opening weekend to their season. They opened at the Casper relays Friday and Head Coach Larry White says they carried that momentum into Saturday’s meet in Gillette. The Broncs will duel Cody, in Cody, Friday, and compete in an invitational in Riverton, Saturday. The Wyoming Cowboys lost 59-50 at Princeton, Saturday. This week the Pokes play in Casper against Montana State tip-off is scheduled for 4 o’clock Saturday afternoon. The Denver Broncos beat Baltimore yesterday 12-10 and opened up a two game lead in the AFC West over Kansas City and San Diego. This week the Broncos play at Buffalo. That game is Saturday night at 6:30.
12/09/05 The Broncs and Lady Bronc both opened the Oil City Classic in Casper with losses last night. Lander’s Tawnee Robinson scored 26 points as the Lady Tigers beat the Lady Broncs 64-51. The Lady Broncs drop into the losers bracket and will play at 4 o’clock against Rock Springs. The Broncs fell behind big against Green River then made a run but the Wolves pulled away in the second half so the Broncs drop into the losers bracket and will take on Mountain View at 5:30. We will broadcast both Sheridan High School games live on am 14-10 KWYO the Lady Broncs at 4 pm followed by the Broncs at 5:30. The NSI Wolves opened their season at home last night against Big Horn. The Rams went 0-3 last week and were looking for that first win of the year. They got it in a big way, blowing out the wolves 90-39. Big Horn head coach Josh Hatch says that’s just what the rams needed. The rams will play at a tournament Wright starting today. They’ll play Wyoming Indian, Glenrock and Kaycee and Hatch says they’ll get a great test. The Tongue River Eagles play their home opener tonight against Rocky Mountain. Varsity tip is at 6 o’clock. Tomorrow they play at Riverside. The Lady Eagles play at Rocky tonight and home against Riverside tomorrow. The Sheridan College Lady Generals dropped a road game at Western Nebraska last night. At a tournament in Scottsbluff tonight they play United Tribes and end the tournament tomorrow against Colby, Kansas. The Generals open a two day tournament at the Hoffman Dome. Tonight they are joined in the tournament by the North Dakota School of Science, Northwest College and Western Montana. The first game tonight will have Northwest against Western Montana at 6 o’clock and the Generals face NDSS at 8 o’clock The Sheridan Bronc wrestlers will compete at a tournament today and tomorrow in Rapid City. The Lady Broncs play Lander and the Broncs open with Green River. Both games will be played at 8:30. The Broncs will play at Kelly Walsh High School while the Lady Broncs play at Natrona. We will broadcast the Bronc game live on am 14-10 KWYO. Tomorrow we will have both the Broncs and Lady Broncs live on KWYO. The Broncs are looking for improvement over last week when they dropped three in Cheyenne. The Broncs averaged 25 turnovers per game in Cheyenne and they must get that under control this week. The Lady Broncs take on Lander tonight. The Lady Tigers feature Wyoming bound senior Tawnee Robinson. Robinson lit-up the Lady Tigers last year in this same tournament and head coach Mark Elliott says they can’t let that happen again. The big thing for the Lady Broncs this week is defensive improvement. The Sheridan College Lady Generals open a three game tournament tonight in Scottsbluff Nebraska. They play 6th ranked Western Nebraska tonight and former top 10th ranked Colby Kansas Saturday night. These games are the final three before the holiday break and McCarthy says he’s been pleased with the team’s progress during the last month and a half. The Generals end the first half of their season at home this week. Tomorrow and Saturday they host the Holiday Inn Tournament at the Hoffman Dome. Joining the Generals will be the North Dakota School of Science from Whapeton, Northwest College from Powell and Western Montana. The Generals open with Whapeton tomorrow night at 8 o’clock. Last week Whapeton was ranked in the top 20 but fell out of the rankings this week. The Generals entered the national top 30 this week getting some votes for the first time this season. Two other region nine teams also picked up national votes this week. Miles City and Northeastern Colorado. The Big Horn Rams play at NSI tonight. Varsity tip-off is at 7:30 tomorrow. Head coach Corey Hamrick, is sending the younger Broncs to a tournament in Forsyth Montana 12/07/05 The Lady Generals took all the mystery out of last night’s game early with the Air Force Academy, it was a run away as they dominated the Falcons 84-35. Head coach Frank McCarthy was pleased as everyone got good minutes. The Lady Generals end the first half of their season on the road at a tournament in Scottsbluff, Nebraska which starts tomorrow night they’ll play three games two of which will be against teams ranked in the national top 20. The Generals are 11-2 overall and have won nine in a row. They host the Holiday Inn tournament Friday and Saturday at the Hoffman dome head coach Joel Davidson says the team is getting each week. The Generals play the North Dakota School of Science, Friday night, they are ranked in the national junior college top 20 poll, and Davidson expects a great ball game. The Lady Generals host the Air Force Prep Team at the Hoffman Dome this evening. Head coach Frank McCarthy and the players are hoping they get a chance to play. The game is scheduled to tip off at 6 o’clock if the game is cancelled we will let you know. All four Broncs have been in the pool working out since September and head coach Larry White says that puts them ahead of the game by two months. White says each time the Broncs compete this season it’ll be David against Goliath. The Broncs home opener will be January 6th when they host a conference dual with Gillette. The Wyoming Cowboys are 4-3 on the season after blasting Colorado-Colorado Springs last night in Laramie 105-67. The Pokes ended it early going on an 18-0 run to start the game. They lost Friday and Saturday to both Cheyenne schools but came back after those losses and played Laramie tough but lost a close one. The Lady Broncs lost against Cheyenne Central Friday then came back and beat Cheyenne East Saturday before giving up a late lead in the game with Laramie and losing by two. This week both teams play at the Oil City Classic Tournament in Casper starting Thursday night. The Tongue River Eagles split two close games on the road. They won at Thermopolis Friday by three and lost at Lovell Saturday by four. The Tongue River Lady Eagles started the season where they left off last spring winning. They beat Thermopolis Friday and Lovell Saturday. The Sheridan College Generals made it a clean three game sweep at the Wyoming Conference Tournament in Rocksprings. They beat Laramie County, Western Wyoming and Eastern Wyoming to run their record to 11-2 overall. The Lady Generals went 1-2 at their Wyoming Conference Tournament at the Hoffman Dome over the weekend. Mike Daley moved from the Rams to the Lady Rams making way for first year Ram’s head coach Josh Hatch. Hatch played his high school basketball at Rocky Mtn. in Byron and played college ball at Fort Lewis Colorado with his brother former Sheridan College General Kevin Hatch. Hatch says the first couple of weeks have been productive with the new team. The Rams open with three games at a tournament hosted by Riverside and Greybull high schools. Mike Daley takes over the Lady Rams this year after taking the Rams to the state tournament last spring. Daley says the players have done a good job getting used to a new coach and new style of play. One area where the players are getting an education is on the defensive side of the ball. The Lady Rams will be with the Rams at that tournament over in the Basin. The Tongue River Lady Eagles open their season tomorrow night at home against Thermopolis. Head coach Diane Moser begins her 32nd year with the Lady Eagles and says the players have been putting in a lot of good practice time to get ready for a really good opener. The varsity game tips off tomorrow night at 7 o’clock in Dayton The Eagles open at Thermopolis tomorrow then at Lovell, Saturday. The Lady Broncs will also open with Cheyenne Central tomorrow night. Head coach Mark Elliott says this is a tough opening weekend \and the players have done a good job getting themselves prepared. The Lady Broncs first home game isn’t scheduled until January 17th. The Sheridan Bronc swimmers are in their first week of practice and will open their season next Friday at a meet in Casper. As we reported yesterday only 4 swimmers will make up this year’s team but head coach Larry White says they’ll still be competitive. The first home meet for the Broncs will be January 6th against Gillette. Washington state opened up a 12-1 lead over the Wyoming Cowboys to start last night’s game in Pullman and the Pokes never recovered as they fell 63-47. The only bright spot for the Cowboys was the play of Justin Williams who led the way with 10 points, 12 rebounds and five blocked shots. The Cowboys fall to 3-2 on the season and will play their next game at home Saturday against Southern Illinois. Tip-off is set for 2 o’clock. Sheridan
