Melvin J. Duerst, 86, of Sheridan, passed away on September 30, 2008, at the Sheridan VA Medical Center. Mel was born April 20, 1922 in Bellevelle, WI to Jacob and Mary Duerst. He was raised on the dairy farm he was born at and continued farming until WWII where he was in the 9th Armored Division, 19th Tank Battalion, fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and participated in the capture of the Remagen Bridge. After the war Mel worked for an International Harvester dealership in New Glarus, WI. He moved his family to Golden, CO in 1959 where he worked for Coors Brewery Company and the Colorado School of Mines. In 1971 he moved to Sheridan and worked various jobs including for the Wyoming Highway Department until his retirement in 1987. Mel loved people of all ages and was known for his great sense of humor and story telling. He enjoyed all animals, hunting, fishing, woodworking, and was an avid gun buff. There wasn’t anything Mel couldn’t build or repair as he was a talented craftsman. Most important to him were his wife and family. He was a much loved husband, father, and friend and will be missed greatly. Mel was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry; and 2 brothers and 2 sisters . He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; his children, Brenda (Ernie) Wooley, Colleen (Allen) Blakeman, Rob (Jane) Stuessy, Cynthia (Dave) Winders, Brad (Susan) Duerst, Melaine (Dan) Davidson, Dennis (Linda) Heth "a rogue nephew"; his six grandchildren, April Haulman, Gina Tumbarello, Clinton Stuessy, Surrena Michels, Zachary Davidson, and Michael Stuessy and his three great-grandchildren, Sommer and Wyatt Haulman and Camden Wight; his sister, Elsie Funseth of Bellevelle, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial to celebrate Mel’s life at Cornerstone Church, 4351 Big Horn Ave., on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 1:00 pm. (Bill) Sollars passed away September 29, 2008, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital in Sheridan, WY. He was born May 3, 1921 in Wyola, Montana. He is survived by three children, Sheldon and his wife Barbara, Jim and his wife Ginny, and his daughter Sally. He also has grandchildren Mike, Mark, Matt, Jessi, Kim and Lisa; three great-grandchildren Josie, Jack, and Kassidy. He is preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 59 years, Billie. Bill grew up fast, earning his own way at 13. After moving permanently to Sheridan in 1947 he founded Sollars Plumbing and Heating, Sollars Realty, and ultimately was the Real Estate Commissioner for the State of Wyoming. He reached what he would describe as the pinnacle of success as a volunteer for Habitat For Humanity via St. Peters Episcopal Church, where he also was a Lay Minister. Just prior to his passing, Bill lived at Westview Health Care Center where he described his life as that of the richest man in Sheridan, living in a hundred-room mansion with loving people catering to his every need. There he acquired a computer where, among other projects, documented by memory all of the hundreds of songs he had learned over a lifetime. Engdahl, 56, of Sheridan, to her higher power after a long battle with cancer. She passed away at Sheridan Manor. Carla was born on December 2, 1951 in Lewistown, MT to Clifford and Juanita Barkhoff. She attended school in Judith Gap. She loved gardening, planting flowers, and taking care of her houseplants; she had a real greenthumb. Carla had a love for the outdoors and would sit and watch the hummingbirds and butterflies in her yard well into the night. She had fun with puzzles and would spend hours playing cribbage with her friends. Carla loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and with her friends. She had a passion for butterflies. She leaves all her good friends behind at home, but she will be in our hearts and minds forever. Carla was preceded in death by her brother, Lonnie Barkhoff; her son, Garry Barkhoff; and her sister, Susan Chan. She is survived by her partner and inseparable friend of twenty-two years, David D. Harrison, 90, of Sheridan passed away on September 27, 2008, at the Sheridan V.A. Medical Center. George was born on October 9, 1917, in Belfry, Montana, to Oscar T. and Edna A. Harrison. George graduated from Belfry High School as Salutatorian. He attended Billings Business College and Eastern Montana College in Billings, Montana, and the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. George was an elementary school teacher for two years before going to work for the Burroughs Corporation in 1940. George married Fauneil Powell in Imperial, Nebraska, on February 14, 1941, and as a newlywed was drafted into the U.S. Army. After World War II began, he was selected to attend Officer’s Training School and received a commission of 2nd Lieutenant. In early 1943, he was sent to England, where he served in the Quartermaster Corps until the war ended. He was honorably discharged on February 19, 1945, with the rank of Major. George then returned to work with the Burroughs Corporation, where he worked for 37 years and for many years received the Burroughs’ "Legion of Honor" award for outstanding systems installation and customer service. After retiring from the Burroughs Corporation, George was an associate broker with ABC Realty for six years. George was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he hunted and fished in the Bighorn Mountains for over 50 years. George also loved all sports and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren as they participated in their sports activities. George was a member of the Toastmasters Club and was a life member of the Elks Lodge #520. George was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Ralph Harrison, his sister, Mildred Johnson, and his daughter-in-law, Kathy Harrison. He is survived by his wife, Fauneil of Sheridan; his son, Jim Harrison, of Sheridan; his daughters, Debi Smith of Sheridan and Yvonne Harrison of Centennial, Colorado; grandchildren, Derek Rupp, of Aurora, Colorado, Amanda Malyurek (Luke) of Gillette, Wyoming, Jacob Harrison (Paulina) of Alvarado Veracruz, Mexico, Britin, Braden, and Keedan Smith of Sheridan; and three great-grandsons. Box 49, Sheridan, WY 82801. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ KATHRYN ANN SKATULA, 54, of Valley Village, CA, died peacefully at her home Thursday, August 21, 2008, after a courageous, year-long battle with ALS. An accomplished actor, singer, pianist, composer, and voice teacher, she was born June 11, 1954 in Tacoma, Washington to Roman and Marty (Sabo) Skatula of Sheridan, Wyoming. She grew up and attended schools in Sheridan, graduating from Sheridan High School in 1972. While at SHS, Kathryn was proud to be selected to the American Legion Girls State program, and then was given the high honor of being one of two Wyoming girls chosen that year to go to the American Legion Girls Nation in Washington D.C. Kathryn also represented Wyoming in the 1972 Junior Miss Pageant in Mobile, AL, in which she won a talent scholarship to Colorado Women's College. There she studied music and theatre, eventually touring with several singing groups, including The New Christy Minstrels. In 1977, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her childhood dream of a professional acting career. As a member of Actor's Equity, SAG, and AFTRA, she performed in the national touring companies of Annie, Nine (with Sergio Frankie), Annie Get Your Gun, The Sound of Music, and Cathy Rigby's Peter Pan. In the Los Angeles area, she was cast in Beautiful Lady (with Joanne Worley and Katey Sagal), Sunday in the Park with George and Quilters. She guest starred on an episode of Riptide, and played a featured role in Out on a Limb with Shirley MacLaine. The greatest joy of her career, however, was as a founding member of the Musical Theatre Guild, an organization devoted to presenting staged concert readings of rarely-performed musicals. She was a proud member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Santa Monica, CA, serving as organist, choir director, soloist, and liturgist. A passionate humanitarian, she was active in many causes, including the Actor's Fund and Relay for Life. Kathryn traveled widely, loved sports, hiking and nature, feeling a special connection to Wyoming's Big Horn Mountains. It is fitting, then, that a portion of her ashes will be scattered there. Kathryn was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Joe Skatula, and Mary and Bill Seitzinger; her maternal grandparents, Michael and Anna Sabo; and her uncles Karl Skatula, Al Sabo, Art Sabo, Robert Sabo, and Ray Sabo. She is survived by her parents; her partner in life, Ali B Olmo; Debra (her sister) and Dick Mason and their children, Jordan and Zachary of Bellevue, WA; Rick (her brother) and Kim Skatula and their children, Adam and Gretchen of Casper, WY; and Mary Jo (her sister) and Clark Johnson and their daughter, Sara, of Sheridan. Other survivors are her Uncle Joe and Aunt Christine Skatula and cousin Patty Skatula of Sheridan; cousin David Skatula of Seattle, WA; and Stacy Smallwood of Grand Junction, CO; her Uncle John Sabo of Pennsylvania; Uncle Martin Sabo of New Jersey and Aunt Anna Mae Hance of Delaware; numerous other cousins around the country; and a legion of friends, especially Chuck, Linda, Sarah and Adam Bergman of Studio City, CA. Cody was born in Casper, Wyoming on August 10, 1985 to Rowland "Rollie" and Linda Sisco. He graduated from Tongue River High School in 2004. Cody was a recipient of the Presidential Scholarship Award to the University of Wyoming where he was a senior majoring in business administration. During summer break he was employed with B & G Roustabout. Cody enjoyed riding his dad’s motorcycle, playing frisbee-golf, going to concerts, fishing, and bowling. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He played life by ear, one day at a time with each day being a righteous adventure! Cody was preceded in death by his father, Rollie Sisco; his maternal grandparents, William and Norma Gerlock; his uncle, Ron Sisco; and his step-father, Kenneth Bridwell. He is survived by his mother, Linda Sisco-Bridwell, of Sheridan; his sister, Brittney Sisco, of Sheridan; his grandparents, Tom and Minnie Sisco, of Casper, WY; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Barber, age 86, of Ranchester, WY died Saturday, September 27, 2008, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Beverly was born May 28, 1922, in Homestead, MT to Ora & Nora (Casperson) Fleischman. Beverly grew up in Montana and graduated from high school in Froid, MT. She moved to Los Angeles, CA and graduated from Business College. Beverly married Ray Rahn on October 14, 1940, in California. They owned and operated Rahn Brothers Printing for many years until they retired. Ray died in 1991. In 1993, Beverly married Don Barber in California. Don died in 1994. She moved to Ranchester in 1999 to be near her sister LaVerne Weber and her family. She was a member of Big Horn Church. Beverly was also preceded in death by her two brothers. Beverly is survived by her sister LaVerne Weberg of Sheridan and numerous nieces and nephews. Graham, age 73, of Hanna, WY, died Saturday, September 27, 2008, in Sheridan Manor. Donald was born March 22, 1935, in Sheridan, WY to Virgil & Hazel (Wile) Graham. Donald grew up and attended schools in Sheridan. He married Doris Hauf in Sheridan in 1953. They lived in several places while he worked road construction. They later divorced. Donald married Helen Whiteaker in 1962 in Billings, MT. They lived in Billings and he worked as a welder and owned and operated a gas station. She died in 1984. He moved to Colorado and then to Hanna, WY where he worked at the mine for a time. Donald enjoyed fishing, hunting and listening to music. Donald is survived by his sons Dennis Brunson of Ranchester, WY, Duane Brunson of Sheridan, Joel Pearson and Donald Graham, Jr. of Billings, MT and Dallas Graham of Musselshell, MT; daughters Debbie Pilcher of Sheridan, Taunya Straight of Billings, MT, Sandra Crane of Musselshell, MT, Dena Champlin-Wardle and Deanne Hines of Sheridan; brother Bert Graham of New Mexico; sister Cora Sobotka of Cheyenne, WY; 22 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Robert Arthur Johnson, 83, of Sheridan, WY died Tuesday, September 23, 2008 in Sheridan Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle against Parkinson’s disease. Services for Mr. Johnson will be held at the First Baptist Church in Sheridan at 11:00 A. M. on Friday, September 26, 2008 with the Rev. Kenneth Doolin officiating. Bob was born on January 10th, 1925 in Manville, WY to homesteader parents Reuben and Mabel (Carlisle) Johnson. He went to Carbon Black School in Lance Creek for most of his early school years and graduated from Manville High School in 1944. On June 1st, 1947, Bob and Francis Taylor were married on the Taylor home place on the Divide in Lusk, WY. Bob loved the Sheridan area but had fond memories of his years in the Lance Creek, Manville, and Lusk area. As his disease progressed, his yearnings to return to Niobrara County increased. He will be remembered by his family as a hard-working man. Besides working with his father and brothers on the home place in Lance Creek, he worked for the Continental Oil Co. After moving his family to Lusk, he worked for Rancher’s Feed Service. In 1970, Bob and Francis moved their family to Sheridan where he worked as a milk truck driver for Jersey Creamery and then as a maintenance man at the Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County until his retirement in 1989. After retiring, they joined the Mobile Missions Assistance Program and enjoyed traveling the U. S. for 9 years. When health issues interfered with their M. M. A. P. work, he and Francis became Senior Companions with the Sheridan Senior Center. Bob continued with that work until he became a resident of Sheridan Manor in July of this year. Bob loved to tinker and was notorious for always having some type of home improvement project in the works. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church for 38 years and loved the Lord. Bob also loved spending time with his family. He looked forward to the many Johnson family reunions and visits with cousins and extended family. He was proud of his grandkids and great grandchildren and especially enjoyed any time he spend with them. He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; two brothers, Wayne and Donald; and one sister, Florence. Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years; sister, Maxine Miller, of Casper, WY; sons Larry and wife Dee, of Esterbrook, Ronald and wife Denise, of Douglas, WY, Rex and wife Barbara, of Delta, CO, and Keith of Cody; daughters Merna Dodd and husband, Leland, of Miles City, MT, and Anita Walker and husband, Rick, of Casper, WY; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 5 great, great grandchildren; as well as brothers and sisters-in-law; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. The family would also appreciate any happy memories of Bob being put in writing and sent to Francis to be compiled into a memorial book. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Alexander Eugene Wambolt died unexpectedly Monday September 22, near Sheridan. Alex was always is awe of his surroundings. He and his wife Lynne had become fulltime travelers and were traveling the nation. Alex always found the best in everything and everybody. He loved to joke and tell stories and laugh. He lived his live to the fullest. He was hardworking and meticulous in his work at Decker Coal, in his own business, Black Thumb Construction and in his leisure activities. He loved the outdoors, fishing, and walking on a beach, the smell of rain and a good beer. He treasured his family, wife of forty-two years, Lynne, son Cody Thayne and his wife Kerri, his three grandchildren,Cody Levi, Chance Aleksandr-William and Khyann Rhayne. He held steadfast to his memories and love for his daughter, Amanda Brooke. He always felt his friendships were one of his greatest assets. He was born in Windsor, Colorado on the family farm to Alec and Madeline Wambolt, September 4, 1948. He will be missed, loved and long remembered by his wife and son and family, his mother Madeline, his two brothers, Robert and James, his two sisters Janet Winder and Judith Lentz, Rocky and Pam Bloskas, and his eleven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth, his father and his daughter, Amanda Brooke. He would ask everyone to take awe in the sunrise, and sunset and always look for the rainbows. A gathering of friends and family will be held Friday at 3:00 at The home of Cody and Kerri Wambolt, 564 Big Goose Road, Sheridan. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Della Mae Pederson (Volk), 65, of Sheridan, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday evening, September 22, 2008. Della was born in Rugby, ND on May 2, 1943, to Mike and Stella Volk. She graduated from Towner High School in 1961 then went on to attend cosmetology school that year in Billings, MT. Della married Kenneth Pederson on June 30, 1962 in Fulda, Pierce County, ND. She worked as the 2nd cook at Coffeen School, for seventeen years, from 1978 until her retirement in 1995. She enjoyed attending church and hosting bible study in her home. Della also enjoyed playing games and cooking, especially for the holidays with her family. Another passion of hers was to bake and decorate cakes for her family and friends. She always had her Bible open at the table and a phone to her ear. She loved to have company drop in and getting out of the house to go shopping and just driving around. She liked having her monthly luncheons with her friends. Della was always interested in what and how everyone was doing. Her family was extremely important to her and she loved spending time with them and getting to know her four great-grandchildren. Della was a faithful believer and follower of Jesus Christ as well as a faithful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother all her life. She loved her children dearly and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life. Della was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of forty-five years, Kenneth R. Pederson, Sr; and her grandson, Allen O’Dell. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah O’Dell and her husband, Andy, Nancy Grover and her husband, Marty, Pamela Hilling and her husband, Todd, and Loni O’Dell and her husband, David, all of Sheridan; her son, Kenneth R. Janis was the fourth generation of Johnson’s in Sheridan and was born November 12, 1947, to Barbara Johnson Burkhardt. She was adopted by her uncle John Johnson and his wife Dottie. Janis was a Notary Public and a fervent cat lover. Janis was preceded in death by her mothers Dottie Johnson and Barbara Burkhardt. Janis is survived by her father John Johnson and sister D’Ann of Austin, TX; brother Doug of St. Petersburg, FL; two uncles; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Graveside committal of her cremains will be Noon on Sunday (Sept. 28th) in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with the Rev. Douglas Goodwin officiating. A reception will follow at the Flagstaff Café. Wondra, age 95, of Sheridan, WY died Saturday, September 20, 2008, in Sheridan Manor. George was born June 20, 1913, in Monarch, WY. George married Frieda Hauf on March 4, 1938. They were married for 70 years. He was a member of First Congregational Church and Elks Lodge #520. George is survived by his wife Frieda of Sheridan; son George E. of El Paso, TX; daughters Audrey Martinek of Moorcroft, WY and Marilyn Grace of Sheridan; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Monica A. Harrington, 70, of Sheridan, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2008 at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Monica was born on April 29, 1938 in Winner, SD to John and Margaret (Tappe) Ruhkamp. She grew up in Winner and Witten, SD. On October 26, 1955 she married Lloyd Harrington in the Catholic Church in Winner. Lloyd was in the Air Force and together they were stationed in numerous locations, including the Panama Canal Zone and Puerto Rico. They retired from the service in 1972 to make their home in Sheridan. They raised five children together. Monica loved spending time with her family, taking trips to Deadwood with her husband of almost 53 years, and playing BINGO with her friends. She also enjoyed gardening, crafts, and reading. Monica was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Doug; and four brothers. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd of Sheridan; her children, Linda (Alvin) Mitchell and Kelly (Russell) Thompson both of Sheridan, Dean (Kitty) Harrington of Ranchester, WY, and Mary (Chris) Hagaman of Fremont, NE; her eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Noel Ruhkamp of Blair, NE, Jean Ruhkamp of Havre, MT, Frances Wheeler of Fort Collins, CO, and Berniece Harter of Winner, SD. Per Monica’s request cremation has taken place. A Christian Wake Service will be held at Kane Funeral Home on Friday, September 26, 2008 at 7:00 pm. Mrs. Hendrickson was born June 23, 1917 in Rurel Dodge, North Dakota to Joseph and Sophie (Scherter) Klee. She grew up and attended schools in Rurel Dodge and Rurel Holliday, North Dakota. On November 30, 1940 “Maggie” married Harry Felix Hendrickson in Killdeare, North Dakota. She was a homemaker and worked on the family farm. In the 1930’s she was a member of the Y. M. P. A. Mrs. Hendrickson also was a cook at the Rainbow Café and the Lariat Café in Buffalo, Wyoming where she resided from 1940 through 1964. In 1964 “Maggie” moved to Lusk, Wyoming until 1968, and then moved to Hyattville where she resided until 1972. She returned to Lusk, Wyoming living there until 1976 when she moved to Presho, South Dakota, then moved to Redfield, South Dakota in 1992 residing there until 2008 when she moved to Sheridan, Wyoming. Mrs. Hendrickson was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Redfield, South Dakota. She enjoyed flower gardening, word finds puzzles, solitaire, and spending time with her family. “Maggie” was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; her parents; 3 sons; 6 brothers; 4 sisters; 2 grandsons; 1 granddaughter; and 1 great grandson. She is survived by one son, Larry Hendrickson, of Sheridan, WY; one daughter, Gloria Moore, of Wheatridge, CO; one brother-in-law, George Hendrickson, of Hew Salem, ND; one sister-in-law, Esther Klee, of Holliday, ND; two daughter-in-laws, Charlene Chatwell, of Thermopolis, WY, and Colleen Hendrickson, of Presho, SD; 12 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; numerous great, great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Philip "Jim" Kane, 72, of Sheridan, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Jim was born in Sheridan on May 23, 1936 to Dr. Philip James Sr. and Claire Kane. He graduated from Holy Name Catholic School, the Abbey School in Canon City, CO on June 4, 1954, and from the California College of Mortuary Science and received his embalmers license on December 17, 1959. Jim married Beverly Chieslar in Rapid City, SD on September 10, 1958 and raised four children together. In 1970 he purchased Champion Funeral Home from Barbara Champion which he operated until 1997. He also operated the ambulance service for a time during his ownership of the funeral home as well as serving as Sheridan County Coroner for twenty-eight years. He received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Sheridan Joint Powers Ambulance Board which he was a part of from November 1995 until June 1998. Jim was appointed by Governors Ed Herschler and Mike Sulivan to serve on the Wyoming State Board of Embalming. He sat on the board for three terms from 1985 - 1994. Jim was a life member of the Elks Lodge #520, past President of the Wyoming Funeral Directors Association and of the Sheridan Country Club and a past member of National Selected Morticians, Sheridan Rotary, and the Knight’s of Columbus. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Thomas Kane. He is survived by his wife Beverly of Sheridan; his sons, P.J. Kane and John Kane both of Sheridan and Randy Kane of Story, WY; his daughter, Julie Dowling of Eugene, OR; his two grandchildren, Junior Kane of Sheridan and Dylan Dowling of Eugene, OR; his sister, Nancy Conver of Salt Lake City, UT; and numerous nieces and nephews. Edwin Alexander Love, 1976 – 2008 Services for Edwin Alexander Love, 31, will be held Saturday September 20 at 11 am at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Doug Melius officiating. Alex passed away at his home in Missoula, Montana on September 11, 2008. Alex was born on December 8, 1976 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Kim Love and Chon Mikkelson Love. He was a 1995 graduate of Sheridan High School. He also received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Montana. Alex enjoyed downhill mountain bike racing, snowboarding, motorcycle racing, and spending time with his beloved dog, Otto. In Missoula, he raced downhill mountain bikes for Missoula Bike Works, often placing in the top five. He also was part of Norba—the National Mountain Biking Series, participating in many national races. He loved snowboarding, competing in many boarder cross and big air competitions at Snow Bowl. If he was near the water, he loved to surf and scuba dive. A trip he took to Mexico with friends Ben and Dan was one of the highlights of his life. He also loved going to the family ranch and taking horseback rides to Ginger’s Cabin. He worked in the computer industry, specializing in web development and security following his graduation from college. Alex is survived by his mother of Billings, Montana, his father and step-mother, Mary Kay of Sheridan, his sister, Betsy of Sheridan, his grandfather, Cutler Mikkelson of Story, his aunt, Christy Love of Big Horn, his aunt, Nancy Mikkelson of Sheridan, his uncle, Dr. Charles Love of College Station, Texas, his uncle Kerry Mikkelson of Rapid City, South Dakota, and his very best friend, Jenny Horsley. Bill was born in Sheridan on July 11, 1930 to Harry and Beulah Kelsey. He graduated from Sheridan High School. Mel enlisted in the Army, which he made a career, until his honorable discharge. On November 15, 1986 he married Peggy Myers Farman in Las Vegas, NV. He enjoyed going to the casinos in Deadwood, fishing, and tinkering. He liked to build something out of nothing. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and a sister. He is survived by his wife, Peggy, of Sheridan; his three daughters, Barbara Berliner of Riverside, CA, Gail Wasson of Carson City, NV, and Vickie Duffy of IN; his son, Larry Kelsey; his step-children, Debbie Hanson of Sheridan, DeeVonne Degel of Story, WY, Wade Farman of Powell, WY, and Shana Eunivin of Granger, WY; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Harriette was born in Sheridan, WY on May 21, 1922, the daughter of Thomas and Stella (Miller) Lucas. She grew up in Sheridan graduating from Sheridan High School. She married Lawrence Paul on November 20, 1944 in Hardin, MT. They moved to Tracy, CA where Lawrence worked for Holly Sugar and she for The Bureau of Reclamation up until the time she retired. In 1989 they returned to Wyoming making their home in Buffalo. After her husband Lawrence died in 1990, she was cared for by her nephew Jerry Lucas and his wife Sharon. She enjoyed going to her Bible Study group, attending concerts and play productions, and traveling. She charished her family and canine companion "Punky". She especially enjoyed watching her great/great nieces and nephews grow. Af Harriette is survived by and loved by numerous nieces and nephews here is Sheridan and those many miles away. Milliron, age 88, of Sheridan, WY died Thursday, September 11, 2008, in Sheridan Manor. Eleanor was born August 14, 1920, in Gillette, WY to Ben & Alta (Garrett) Laney. Eleanor grew up in Campbell County and graduated from Campbell County High School. She married Melvin Milliron on June 4, 1937, in Sturgis, SD. They moved to the Wolf Mountains and operated a sawmill for several years. They moved to Story, WY and operated a gas station until 1941 when they moved to Cheyenne, WY. They returned to Sheridan County in 1947 and she worked for the Wigwam Bakery, Reimelt Nursing Home and then for the V.A. Medical Center for over 20 years until she retired. She enjoyed volunteering at the Senior Citizen’s Center and loved her cats. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband in 1993 and a sister Esther. Eleanor is survived by her son Larry Milliron of Sheridan; daughter Joyce Pelesky of Sheridan; brother Harley Laney of Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. Graveside committal of her cremains will be later. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Memorials may benefit the Sheridan Senior Citizen’s Center, 211 Smith St., Sheridan. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Milton “Mel” Morris, age 66, of Sheridan, WY died Thursday, September 11, 2008, in the Big Horn Mountains. Mel was born January 28, 1942, in Sheridan to Paul & Mildred (Branch) Morris. Mel grew up on a ranch north of Sheridan and graduated from Sheridan High School. He married Georgia Butler in 1959. They later divorced in 1980. Mel enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in Viet Nam. He was discharged in 1970 and moved to Denver where he went to work at the V.A. Medical Center. In 1981, he married Cindy Burrow. Mel was transferred to the V.A. in Miles City, Montana in 1984. He retired in 1997 and returned to Sheridan. They traveled around the U.S. and spent the summers in the Big Horn Mountains. Mel was a member of the Marine Corps League, VFW, American Legion, DAV, Elks Lodge and Eagles Lodge. Mel was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Phyllis Brown, Leona Reardon, Nina Morris and Margaret Morris. Mel was survived by his wife Cindy of Sheridan; son James of Maryland; daughter Debra Frigon of Maryland; brothers Paul and Patrick of Denver; sisters Patty Shepard of Buffalo, WY, Mary Wormeldorf and Mary Heimer of Denver: step brother Dana Wood; Step sister Debbie Wood-Graves; and four granddaughters. Jim was born on September 29, 1931 to John and Anne Bordeaux in Sheridan. He graduated in 1950 from Sheridan High School. Jim enlisted in the United States Navy in 1950 and served until his honorable discharge in 1954. He was a partner in C&B Paint until his retirement in 1997. Jim married Dee Heil in Sheridan on August 13, 1955. He loved his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Alex, Frank, Jack, and Bud; and his sisters, Edna, Dorothy, and Ruth. He is survived by his wife, Dee, of Sheridan; his daughter, Sue Bordeaux Conrad and her husband, Matt, of Phoenix, AZ; his grandson, Chip Lemons and his wife, Tracy, of Chandler, AZ; his two great-grandchildren, Andra and Alec Lemons, of Chandler, AZ; his brother, Walter Bordeaux and his wife, Nat, of CA; and his sisters, Barbara Day and her husband, Sam, of AZ and Margaret Pearson in WA. Lindell, 53 , of Sheridan, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2008 at his home. John was born on March 18, 1955 to A.E. and Virginia Lindell in Greybull, WY. He was raised in Lander and graduated from Lander Valley High School. He worked in Alaska and Louisiana before attending National College of Business at Rapid City, SD. After graduation he moved to Casper and started JAL Insurance Underwriters Inc. Then John met the love of his life, Dawn Forsberg, and they were married in 1990. They made their home in Casper. John and Dawn have two children, a son, Cameron, and a daughter, Hilary. The family moved to Sheridan in 1997 when John became General Manager of Fremont Motors Sheridan. John enjoyed vacations with his family. He was an avid bow hunter and was proud of the Pope and Young bull elk he took with his bow. He and his son, Cameron, went on several hunting trips. John loved to play basketball in the back yard with his daughter, Hilary. The family enjoyed golfing, skiing, riding ATV’s, and boating together. John was President of the National Automobile Dealers Association 20 Group. He was very active and generous in supporting the community of Sheridan. John is survived by his wife, Dawn, son, Cameron, daughter, Hilary, mother-in-law, Darlene Forsberg, sister, Jane Nolde and her husband, Gary, sister-in-law, Pam Iannucci and her husband, Lou, brother-in-law, Doug Forsberg and his wife, Debbie, as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be deeply missed by his extended family at the Fremont Motor Companies. Allen, 97, of Sheridan and Cheyenne, WY, died Wednesday, September 3, 2008 in Sheridan Manor. Mrs. Allen was born April 4, 1911 in Toledo, Iowa to Wyatt Owen and Alice May (Paige) Thompson. She spent her early years in Iowa and then moved to York, Nebraska where she attended schools, graduating from York High School in 1929. Mildred received her B. A. Degree from York College in 1934, attended Gregg College Normal Course in Chicago, Illinois graduating in 1937, and received her M. A. Degree from Colorado State College of Education in Greeley, Colorado in 1945. Mrs. Allen married Louis E. Allen February 21, 1957 in Ault, Colorado. She was a Secretarial Science Instructor in high schools and colleges for over 30 years, teaching in Ridgeville Corner, Ohio for 3 years, Lawrenceville, Illinois for 6 years, East Moline, Illinois for 1 year, Portland, Oregon for ½ year, Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington for 3 years, North Platte, Nebraska for 6 years, and Sheridan College in Sheridan, WY for 11 years. Mrs. Allen also was the Supervisor of Clerical Employment at the University of Wyoming for 3 years, retiring in 1970. Mildred was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cheyenne, WY. She enjoyed cross-stitch, reading, and spending time with her family. She was affectionately known as “Bibber” to her nieces and nephew. She was a wonderful “second mother” to her step-daughters and a loving grandmother to their children. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; her parents; two sisters; and one granddaughter. She is survived by two step-daughters, Nancy Osterman-Rowland, of Marion, Michigan, and Shirley Korp, of Clearmont, Wyoming; 4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 nieces; and 1 nephew.
