Marc Phillip Coffeen, 60, of Sheridan, WY, died Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at his residence.

Mr. Coffeen was born September 29, 1946 in Sedan, France to Herbert and Suzanne (Consigny) Coffeen.  He moved to Sheridan with his family as an infant, growing up and attending schools in Sheridan, including Coffeen Elementary, graduating from Sheridan High School in 1964.

Marc started to attend Sheridan College, but was drafted into the U. S. Army, serving in Viet Nam in 1968.  He returned to Sheridan and graduated from Sheridan College in 1969 with an Associate of Arts Degree.  Marc married Patricia Genereaux August 16, 1969 in Sheridan with a reception following in the Big Horn Women’s Club.  Mr. Coffeen was a carpenter by trade before going to work as a coal miner for Decker Coal Company in 1977, retiring in 1995.

Marc was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Sheridan, & the Big Horn Historical Society.  He was an U. S. and Western History buff, an avid out-doorsman, hunter, and photographer.  Marc enjoyed spending time with his family.  He was a descendent of Henry Asa Coffeen, of which Coffeen Ave. and Coffeen School in Sheridan, Coffeen St. in Ranchester, and Coffeen Park in the Big Horn Mountains were named.

Mr. Coffeen was preceded in death by his father.

Marc is survived by his wife, Trish, of Sheridan, WY; three sons, Christopher & Nathan Coffeen, both of Sheridan, WY, and Quinn Coffeen, of Seattle, WA; his mother, Suzanne Coffeen, of Sheridan, WY; one brother, Michael Coffeen, of Sheridan, WY; and two sisters, Patricia Shokrian, of Sheridan, WY, and Mary Coffeen Carley, of Lake City, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Coffeen will be from 6:00 P. M. to 8:00 P. M. Friday, August 31, 2007 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home.  A Celebration of Life for Marc will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 1, 2007 at the Cornerstone Church, 4351 Big Horn Ave., Sheridan, with the Rev. Tony Forman officiating assisted by Dave Wagner.  Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Big Horn, WY.  Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. 

Memorials in memory of Mr. Coffeen may be made to the Sheridan Historical Society, Big Horn Historical Society, or to the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library. 


Kenneth Goodman, 76, of Sheridan, WY, died Sunday, August 19, 2007 in Sheridan Manor.
             
Mr. Goodman was born in Billings, MT January 28, 1931 to Adam and Anna (Kukes) Goodman.  He moved with his family to the Sheridan area when he was 2 years of age, and the family farmed at Big Horn and U-Cross.  Ken married Jeanne McKinney September 15, 1951 in Sheridan, WY. 

Mr. Goodman joined the Marines in October of 1951 and served in Korea.  He was honorably discharged in 1953 with the rank of Corporal.

Ken returned to Sheridan and farmed on Lower Prairie Dog for 8 years, and then went to work for Germaine’s for 15 years.  Mr. Goodman went to work at the Sheridan V. A. Center, retiring as a pipe-fitter in 1992.  He then became a ditch-rider for the Gerdle Ditch, retiring in 2002.

Mr. Goodman enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching his grandchildren playing sports, and spending time with his family.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers; and 1 sister.

He is survived by three sons, Casey Goodman, (Sue), of Sheridan, WY, Karl Goodman, of Story, WY, and Willis Goodman, of Caledonia, MI; one daughter, Tannya Goodman, of Sheridan, WY; one brother, Robert Goodman, of Sheridan, WY; one sister, Sadie Robinson, of Sheridan, WY; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Goodman will be from 6:00 P. M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday,
August 23, 2007 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home.  Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. 


Edna Mae Heavey, age 83, of Sheridan, WY died Thursday, August 30, 2007, in Sheridan Manor.

Edna was born June 5, 1924, to Ed and Estelle Heavey with many disabilities.

Edna was cared for at home until she was 18 when she moved to the Lander Training School as her mother was caring for her ailing father.  In 1993, she moved to the RENEW facility in Sheridan.  She lived in the Sheridan Avenue Group Home until her death.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and a baby brother.

Edna is survived by her two nieces, one nephew and their children.

Inurnment of her cremains will be with her sister Katherine in the family plot in Cody, WY.  Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.


Dorothy Hockert, 86, passed away on August 29, 2007 at Sheridan Manor.

Dorothy was born on September 3, 1920 to Gilbert and Myrtle Rowe in Terre Haute, IN. After graduating high school she went on to college and received a Bachelor’s Degree. Dorothy married Chester Hockert in Terre Haute, IN on December 29, 1942. She was an extraordinarily generous person, Dorothy gave many hours to community service. She held leadership positions and worked tirelessly as a volunteer. Some of the many organizations included: the Indiana University Museum of Art, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Friends of Music of Indiana University, the Community Foundation of Morgan County, and Trinity Episcopal Church of Bloomington, Indiana. Dorothy actively pursued several hobbies. She was an avid gardener and won awards for her beautiful gardens. She loved to travel and had visited sites allover the world. She also enjoyed golf and playing bridge and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband. She is survived by her children, Janet Shepherd and Robert Hockert both of Gillette, WY and Richard Hockert of Dallas, TX; her seven grandchildren, Jon Driegert, Bill Driegert, Lauren Ciarochi, Pam Hockert, K.D. Hockert, Lindsey Hockert, and Casey Hockert; her three great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Esther Smith of La Jolla, CA, Rose Thompson of Banning, CA, and Gilbert Rowe of Grand Rapids, MN.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomington, IN with The Reverend Cannon Kenneth L. Ornell officiating. Interment will follow in the Valhalla Memory Gardens. Kane Funeral Home is handling arrangements with Allen Funeral Home handling out of town services.

The family has requested memorial’s be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 111 S. Grant, Bloomington, IN 47402, Indiana University Art Museum, 1133 E. 7th St., Bloomington, IN 47405, or to the Indianapolis Museum of Art, 4000 Michigan Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46208-3326.


George Legerski, 88, of Sheridan, Wyoming, passed away on August 17, 2007, at the Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. George was born on October 14, 1918, in Acme, Wyoming, to George Paul and Mary (Kawulok) Legerski.

George went to work in the CC Camp and then he enlisted in the US Army and served during WW II from July 1942 until December 1945. After being discharged from the Army, George went to work at Monarch Coal Co and then for Big Horn Coal retiring in 1980. He was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and the U.M.W. 2055.

George married Mary Roswadovski on June 21, 1941 in Sheridan and they had three children. Stanley (Evelyn) Legerski, Edward (Janis) Legerski, and Jane (Donnie) Lindstrom.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Mike; his sisters, Anna Krenzelok, Mary Pelesky, Agnes Fletcher, Eva Bury, Rose Buszkiewic; his brothers Paul Legerski and John Legerski; and one grandchild, Tamera Legerski Collins.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary, and his children, Stanley Legerski, Edward Legerski, and Jane Lindstrom, and his grandchildren; Tim Legerski, Jacque Sue Lind, Amber Legerski, Calvin Garretson, Bronco Legerski, Cory Legerski, Jennifer Flannery, and Travis Lindstrom and his great grandchildren; Katie, Tyrell, Jessica, and Alex Legerski, Blake Legerski, Denium Lind, Reno Legerski, Lexys, Ashlee, and Conner Flannery, and his brothers; Joe Legerski, Ted Legerski, Tony Legerski and Frank Legerski.

George enjoyed hunting, fishing, story telling and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Kane Funeral Home on Thursday, August 23, 2007, between 6:00 and 8:00pm. Services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, August 24, 2007, at Kane Funeral Home with George Tellez officiating. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Memorials in George’s name may be made to the charity of the Donor’s choice.


Mary K. Miech, age 94, of Sheridan, WY died Monday, August 6, 2007, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

Mary was born October 7, 1912, on the Ranch near Piney Creek, Wyoming to Mike & Hedwiga (Rucki) Krezelok.

Mary grew up on the ranch and attended the Old Stone School on Piney Creek.  She married Joseph Miech on December 17, 1930, in Hardin, MT.  They lived in Ulm, WY for a year and then moved into Sheridan.  Mary was a member of VFW #1560 Auxiliary, Naomi Chapter #2 of Order of Eastern Star and the First Congregational Church.  She loved her family and enjoyed taking care of her flowers, fishing, crocheting, knitting, baking, cooking and playing bingo.  She liked being in the mountains and the outdoors.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, son, parents, three sisters and two brothers.

Mary is survived by her daughter Phyllis Gigstad of Magnolia, Texas; brother Joe Krezelok of Greybull, WY; sister Margaret Ellenwood of Banner, WY; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be at 12noon on Saturday (Aug. 11th) from the Kalif Shrine.
Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Ralph William Oaks, Jr., 57, passed away on August 26, 2007 at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

Ralph was born on May 11, 1950 to Ralph W. Oaks, Sr. And Margaret A. Oaks in Battle Creek, Michigan. He graduated from Woodland Park High School. He served in Vietnam in the Navy and also spent time in the Coast Guard.

Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Debra and his father, Ralph W. Oaks, Sr. He is survived by his mother, son Clayton (Tara) and two granddaughters, Kamden and Avery Oaks of Kokomo, IN, two sisters, Linda (Tom) Smith and Chris (Phillip) Burns of Canon City, CO. He also had many nieces and nephews and great nieces and one nephew.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Kane Funeral Home is handling arrangements


Edna M. Phillips, 81, of Sheridan, passed away on August 4, 2007, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Billings, MT.

Edna was born May 31, 1926 in Sioux Falls, SD to Frank and Mary Hendricks. She attended schools in South Dakota. She loved living in the country as a young woman. Edna married Dewey Phillips and raised a daughter together. She was a homemaker and spent her years caring for her family. She loved animals and collected stuffed animals.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Pete Zamora; and her husband, Dewey. She is survived by her daughter, Maria Zamora of Roy, UT; her grandsons, Tom Zamora of Roy, UT; her nephew, Garry Daniels of Sheridan, WY; and several other nieces and nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge Ednas friends and neighbors of the Avoca Court Apartments for their kindness and support.

Services are not scheduled, however, interment will take place on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at 10:00 am in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery for those who wish to be present. Kane Funeral Home is handling arrangements.


Leona Reardon passed away on August 27, 2007after a short stay at the Big Sky Hospice House in Billings, MT due to an injury sustained in a fall at her home in Sheridan, WY.

Leona was 73 years old, born on May 22, 1934. Leona worked with the children at Head Start as a volunteer with the Foster Grandparents program in Sheridan. She was active in Girl Scouts, the VA Medical Center volunteers, bowling leagues for many years, and was a member of the Navy mother auxiliary.

Leona was preceded in death by her husband Patrick, sister Phyllis, grandson Jason Horsley, and her parents. Leona is survived by her two daughters; Louise Horsley of Sheridan and Tammy Reardon of Wolf Point MT and three sons, Patrick, Michael, and DG Reardon, all of Gillette, WY. Leona was proudly blessed with fourteen grandchildren and almost eight great grand children all of who she loved immensely.

Leona’s viewing will be at Kane Funeral Home on Friday, August 31, 2007 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and services will be at Holy Name Catholic Church on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 11:00 am with The Reverend Ron Stolcis officiating. Kane Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate contributions to the Reardon Memorial Scholarship fund to be established at UBS Financial Services, 21 East Works, Sheridan, WY 82801. This fund will be used for the continuing education of the grandchildren and great grandchildren Leona proudly educated throughout her life.


Angel L. Showers, age 46 of Sheridan, WY died Monday, August 6, 2007, in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

Angel was born July 26, 1961, in Sheridan to Virgil “Tubby” & Rose (Vine) Badgett.

Angel grew up and attended schools in Sheridan.  She married Ed Golson in 1980 and worked as a waitress at the Truck Stop and Bob & Donna Restaurant.  They later divorced.  Angel married Paul Showers in 1987.  She was a waitress at Perkins and the Main Street Diner.  They also divorced.  She was working at the Trails End Restaurant currently.  Angel enjoyed crocheting, knitting, crossword puzzles and reading the Bible.

Angel was preceded in death by her father.

Angel is survived by her sons Jeffrey Golson and David Showers both of Sheridan; daughters Melissa Long of Bellingham, WA and Christina Golson of Ranchester, WY; mother Rose Parsons of Sheridan; brother Kevin Badgett of Sheridan; sisters Rosie Sadler, Connie Deutsch, Sheila Badgett and Tammy Badgett all of Sheridan and five grandchildren.

Viewing will be 1:00pm until 7:00pm on Friday (Aug. 10th) from Champion Ferries Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be 10:00am on Saturday from the Church of the Living God with Janell Ziegler officiating.  Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Arlene Dollie Spainhower, 81, of Sheridan passed away on August 21, 2007, at the Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

Arlene was born on July 22, 1926, in Minneapolis, MN, to Arthur and Violet Paulson. She attended Southwestern Adventist Junior College in Keene TX. Arlene taught school for thirty-six years in California. She was a member of California Teacher’s Association and the National Education Association (NEA). Arlene married Frank Spainhower on July 2, 1995 in Yountville, CA.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Frank of Sheridan; her children, Flora-Leigh Kingren, of Joshua, TX, Frederick Davis and his wife Kim of Riverside, CA, Karen Duenas and her husband Jose of San Leandro, CA, and William S. Davis and his wife Yrma of Upton, WY; and her grandchildren, Jennifer Davis, Elizabeth Kingren, Violette Kjeldgaard, Willie Kingren, Dolly Davis, Jonathan Davis, Maryam Ghane, and Lucia Duenas.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home. Services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 23, 2007, at Kane Funeral Home with Pastor Gordon Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.


Tristian Edward Trujillo, passed away on July 20, 2007, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County

Tristian was born on August 20, 2007 to Serena Trujillo.

He is survived by his mother, Serena of Sheridan; his grandparents, Rowena and John Aarstad; and his aunt, Kayla Aarstad.

Graveside services will be held at 4:30p.m. Thursday, August 23, 2007 in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with Pastor Tony Forman officiating. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.


Robert S. Wilmesmeier, 86, of Sheridan, passed away on August 2, 2007, at Westview Health Care Center.

Robert was born June 14, 1921 in Sheridan to Robert and Helen Wilmesmeier. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1939. He joined the Wyoming National Guard and was sent to Fort Lewis, Washington prior to World War II. He served as a Corporal in the Army for five years during World War II. Robert married Ruby Smith in 1951 and the two divorced in 1963. He then married Jean Swanson in 1984 and the two later divorced. He worked as a flooring contractor before he began his employment in the Engineering Department at the Sheridan VA Medical Center where he remained until his retirement in 1986. Robert was a member of the Sheridan Elks Lodge for fifty-four years, the First Presbyterian Church where he served on the church session, and the Sheridan Heritage Center in which he was a board member for five years. He enjoyed doing volunteer work around the community including, delivering Meals On Wheels, taking patients at the Sheridan VA Medical Center to their appointments, performing different tasks at City Hall during Jim Wilson’s reign as Mayor, giving tours at the Sheridan Inn and Trails End Museums, and was responsible for the planting and maintenance of the flowers at the Sheridan Inn.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Robert Alan Wilmesmeier. He is survived his daughter, Cheryl McIntyre and her husband Lynn of Blackfoot, ID; and his grandchildren, Chris McIntyre of Billings, MT and Melissa Simpson and her husband Alan of Idaho Falls, ID.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services with military honors will be held at Kane Funeral Home on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Brian Johnson officiating. Interment of cremains will be in the Sheridan Elks Cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Robert’s name to the Sheridan Senior Center Meals on Wheels Program, 211 Smith Street, Sheridan, WY 82801.
