City of Sheridan
Office of Mayor Dave Kinskey
Snow Storm Update - as of Friday, March 30, 2007, 5:00 p.m.; valid through
the weekend.
Thank You! A big "thank you" to:
City street crews who have been working around the clock shifts, 24/7,
since the storm began;
WyomingDept. of Transportation crews who have helped out;
City utility maintenance crews, landfill crews, parks crews, solid waste
crews - all of whom have pitched in to help;
City fire, ambulance and law enforcement - who have been putting in many
long hours as well.
FORECAST: There may be some additional snow, but the worst of the heavy
snowfalls appear to be done. Winds calm. Temperatures warm during the
days - into the mid-40s through the weekend and Monday. This heavy, wet snow will
continue to melt.
PRIORITIES: Friday focus was pickup in downtown area and trips to trouble
spots where elderly were closed in, where there were drainage problems,
remaining high drifts, etc. During nights over the weekend, crews will be
looking for slippery conditions as temps drop where sanding and other
action is needed. During the days on the weekend, crews will be addressing
drainage issues, unplugging storm sewer drains that are covered with snow, slush,
etc. Friday night (midnight through Saturday morning) we will work on
completing pickup of snow in the downtown area.
SOLID WASTE ("GARBAGE") PICKUP: Residential pickup resumes Monday on the
usual schedule. For customers not picked up during the storm, if you have
more trash than will fit in your dumpster, bag it and on your next pickup
day set it out with the dumpster and we'll pick it up.
Commercial customers: Normal pickup resumes Saturday. Please clear the
snow around your container to allow for access.
The landfill and recycle center will be open Monday.
CONTACT INFORMATION: If you need to contact anyone about any of these
issues during the weekend, please call the Police Department non-emergency line
at 672-2413 - they will refer the matter to the appropriate City crews. Call
911 only in the event of an emergency, please!
FLOODING: I have received many inquiries about possible flooding once the
heavy snow melts. The National Weather Service has informed us that this
is only a minimal concern, but I've asked our public safety officials to
closely monitor this throughout the coming days.
Thank you again for your cooperation as we continue to dig out from this
winter storm.
Sincerely,
Dave Kinskey, Mayor
