Martha E. Bagnell, age 78, of Sheridan, WY died Saturday, February 10, 2007, in Sheridan Manor. Martha was born on March 11, 1928, in Sheridan to John & Janie (McClintock) Bagnell. Martha attended elementary schools in Sheridan. She graduated high school in the east. Martha worked as a housekeeper in New York until she retired. She returned to Sheridan in 1993. Martha enjoyed cooking, animals, old movies and word puzzles. Martha is survived by several cousins. No services are planned. Arrangements are pending with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Memorials may benefit the Sheridan Senior Citizen’s Center, 211 Smith St., Sheridan. Roberta "Bobbie" Burgess, 53, of Sheridan passed away on Friday, February 2, 2007 at Sheridan Manor. Roberta was born in Chicago, IL on February 25, 1953, to James and Helen (Green) Galve. She married Kenneth Burgess in San Diego, CA on February 11, 1978. She was a Navy wife with three boys and the family lived mostly in California. Bobbie was a member of the Eagles 186 & 4169 Women’s Auxiliary and was past Madame President of lodge 4169. She enjoyed reading, bingo, and bowling. Roberta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth. She is survived by her sons, James Haskell of Sheridan, Joey Haskell of Virginia Beach, VA and Kenny Burgess Jr and his wife Kristy of Auburn, AL; her two granddaughters, Victoria Wentz and Elizabeth Burgess; her two sisters, Kathi Zenk and Mary Galve both of CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Melvin was born January 11, 1926, in Averill, Minnesota, to Ernest & Stella (Osborn) Clemens. Melvin married Ethel Kurtz on August 18, 1947, in Moorhead, MN. They moved to North Dakota where they raised their five children. He worked for the Midland Continental Railroad in the Jamestown, ND area. In 1970, they moved to Sheridan, WY where he worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad until he retired in 1977. Melvin enjoyed being with his family, hunting and fishing. Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, wife and infant siblings. Melvin is survived by four sons Melvin, Jr., Carl and Allen of Sheridan and Donald of West Fargo, ND; daughter Dona Jean Clemens of Banner; sister Adeline Clemens of Minnesota; ten grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Pegge A. Cooksley, 86, of Clearmont, WY, died Wednesday, February 21, 2007 in Westview Health Care Center. Pete Deliramich, 82, of Sheridan passed away on Monday, February 26, 2007. Pete was born July 7, 1924 in Gebo, Wyoming to Dan and Mary (Stetz) Deliramich. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and served until his honorable discharge in December of 1945. He married Erma Jean Carr in Sheridan on February 20, 1953 and the couple raised three children together. He was involved with Webb Wright baseball, umpiring both Little League and American Legion games. Pete’s other interests included boys state where he was known as "Sergeant Rock" to many. He also worked the bull pen for YMCA swimming. Pete was active in the American Legions being past commander of Post 7 as well as department commander. He was also active in the Kalif Shrine Oriental Band and the Elks Lodge. Pete retired from the Sheridan VA Hospital after many years as a pipefitter/plumber. Pete was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Erma. He is survived by his two sons, Dan Deliramich and his longtime companion, Simone of Buffalo, WY and Andy Deliramich and his wife Julie of Gillette, WY; his daughter, Kathi Deliramich of Billings, MT; his grandchildren, Stefan Deliramich of Bartelsville, OK and Aimee Deliramich of Laramie, WY; and numerous nieces and nephews. Brooks, Sheridan, WY 82801 Matthew Elliott, 27, of Sheridan, passed away on February 13, 2007, at the Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Matthew was born on June 15, 1979 to Ron and Roxy Ann (Martin) Elliott in Torrington, WY. He was a high school graduate and in the Easter Seals Program. He lived at "HHH" Residential Program (Betty Hart, Director). Matthew was an athlete in the Special Olympics and was named "Most Inspirational Athlete" in 2003. He enjoyed being a part of the CHAPS Program. He loved living in Sheridan and watching college basketball. Ronald Gene Etchemendy, 46, of Sheridan passed away on Friday, February 2, 2007 in Montana Ron was born March 6, 1960, in Sheridan to Glen and Elizabeth (Cann) Etchemendy. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1978. He married Kim Lindberg on January 17, 1982 in Vancouver, WA and the couple raised two children together. Ronald was employed as a driver for Fed Ex. He enjoyed classic cars, fly fishing, and motorcycles. He is survived by his wife, Kim of Sheridan; his children, Garon Etchemendy, Shay Rosenlund and her husband Jeff, with four grandchildren, Addie, Laison, Lexie, & Ian Rosenlund, his mother, Elizabeth Etchemendy, and his brother, Steve Etchemendy all of Sheridan. Houghton, 67, of Sheridan passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2007 at the Sheridan VA Medical Center. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at a later date. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements Harry Jacobs, 93, of Sheridan, WY, died Tuesday, February 6, 2007 in Westview Health Care Center. Mr. Jacobs was born February 17, 1913 to John and Elsie (Van Rees) Jacobs at the family farm near Oskaloosa, Iowa. He grew up and attended schools in Iowa. Harry married Bertha Bitner on June 16, 1935 in Oskaloosa. Mr. Jacobs drove truck for Burlington Truck Lines, then spent several years farming before moving to Sheridan in 1955. He was employed with Consolidated Freightways Tank Division for 23 years in Sheridan, Glendive, and Billings, MT, retiring in 1978. The couple returned to Sheridan in 1980. Mr. Jacobs enjoyed working on their home, doing yard work, gardening, and during the last few years kept busy putting puzzles together. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha, in 1997, his parents, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, and 1 grandson. Harry is survived by one son, Larry Jacobs, of Yoder, Colorado; two daughters, Karen Githens, of Sheridan, WY, and Connie Lucas, of Bethel, Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and one brother in Iowa. Kirk Koepsel, 47, of Sheridan passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2007, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Kirk was born on April 23, 1959, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Erwin and Nancy Diamond Koepsel. Kirk graduated from high school in Evergreen, Colorado and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado, and his Master’s Degree in Range Management from North Dakota State. He has worked for the Sierra Club in Sheridan as a Senior Regional Representative in environmental conservation for the past 17 years. Kirk married Karen Walmsley on November 12, 1994, in Sheridan and they have one daughter, Katya Lee. He loved spending time with his daughter, teaching others about nature and natural habitat preservation and leading family oriented backpacking trips for the Sierra Club. He also enjoyed playing ice hockey, hunting, skiing, camping, backpacking, politics, gardening, walking the dog, scuba diving, and foreign travel. His life was a continual adventure and he lived it to the fullest. Kirk was a member of the Lions Club, Sierra Club, Phi Beta Kappa, active in the Big Brothers Program, and he served in the Peace Corps in Costa Rica. Kirk is survived by his wife, Karen Walmsley; his daughter, Katya, his parents, Erwin and Nancy Koepsel, his sister, Krysti Klueber and his brothers Marc Koepsel and James Koepsel. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 20th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Kane Funeral Home. Esther Lucey, age89, of Sheridan, WY died Sunday, February 4, 2007, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Esther was born April 17, 1917, in Monarch, WY to Frank & Giovanna (Di Cisto) Durante. Esther grew up and attended schools in Monarch and Sheridan. She attended beauty school and later attended nursing school in Buffalo, WY for nurse’s aide training. Esther married Joseph Rainier in Hardin, MT. They moved to Nevada and later divorced. She married Joseph McClure in Nevada in 1956. They moved to Sheridan. Mr. McClure died in an on the job accident in 1957 in Rock Springs, WY. She moved to Carlin, NV where she worked as a nurse’s aide in the hospital in Elko, NV. She married Archie Lucey in 1959 in Carlin. They were later divorced and she moved into Elko. Esther retired from the hospital in 1980 and returned to Sheridan. Esther enjoyed braiding rugs. Esther is survived by her daughters Janice Lee Lopez of Reno, NV and Toni McClure of Sheridan; sister Marie Simmon of San Jose, CA; three grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Valerie Symons Pohlhammer, 60, of San Antonio, Texas, ended her battle with Multiple Sclerosis on Saturday, February 10, 2007, in San Antonio. She was born on June 16, 1946, to Floyd and Fay (Jackson) Elmgren. Floyd passed away in 1952 of polio, and Fay married Edgar Symons in 1953. Valerie attended schools in Laramie and Sheridan and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1964. After graduation, Valerie attended Hastings College in Nebraska, where she met Jim Pohlhammer. They were married October 19, 1965, and were blessed with three daughters; Wendy Moreland, Deedee Schirmer, and Kirsten Hale. Valerie graduated from Emporia State University in May 1979, with a Bachelor of Science - Education Degree. She was an accomplished piano and organ player. Music was an important part of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim in 2005, and she is survived by her daughters, Wendy (Jim) Moreland and grandchildren Matthew, Rebecca, and Timothy of San Antonio; Deedee (Scott) Schirmer and grandchildren Cydney and Kitt of Laurel, Indiana; Kirsten (Jay) Hale and grandchildren Marshall, Miranda, and Mitchell of San Antonio. She is also survived by her parents, Fay and Edgar Symons of Sheridan, brothers Carl and Darley of Washington, Curt of Sheridan, and Robert and Rita of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and a sister Gail of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Valerie was an inspiration with her abilities and disabilities to all her relatives and friends. Kane Funeral Home is handling the local arrangements. Jay W. Rinehart, 52, of Sheridan passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2007 at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Jay was born in Mobridge, South Dakota to J. Dean and Shirley Rinehart on October 19, 1954. He spent his early years growing up in Mobridge doing the things kids do, playing ball in little league, swimming at the Mobridge pool, fishing in the Missouri River, hiking and biking and later on, of course, working with his parents at Dean’s Drive Inn, flipping burgers and serving up ice-cream. During his high school years he played football and played the trumpet in the band. His mother, Shirley, was always encouraging him to try new things and he usually did, at least once. Jay graduated from Mobridge High School in 1973. After another year of working at Dean’s and another job of sorting animal pelts, he decided he could do better. He joined the US Army in August of 1974. Most of his military was spent overseas in Germany. He received an honorable discharge in August of 1976. In 1977, Jay moved to Sheridan, Wyoming where he met Cindy Harrington. They married in June of 1980 and during their marriage of nine years, they raised two children, Lura and Thomas. Jay was employed by the Wyoming State Highway Department at the Sheridan office working in the engineering department. During his twenty-four years of service he obtained several certifications in his field. His main duties were to oversee road construction projects and bridge inspection. He was very proud of his work on the Sheridan Main Street renovation project. Jay was an avid bowler, bowling in several leagues a week and attending National Bowling Tournaments in Reno and Baton Rouge. He loved fishing, shooting pol, playing darts, and his favorite of all things to do was to work at Clear Creek Hunting in Clearmont, assisting with sporting clays, helping with guided hunts and prepping birds for those hunts. Jay was preceded in death by his father, J. Dean Rinehart. Jay is survived by his children, daughter Lura Rinehart and family, granddaughters, Lena and Jocelyn of Casper, WY; son, Thomas Rinehart and family of Oceanside, CA; his mother, Shirley, of Mobfidge, SD; brothers, Jeff and family of Black Hawk, SD, Bruce and family of Mobridge, SD, and Todd of San Diego, CA; and sister, Barbara and family of Reno, NV. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at Kane Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at 10:00 am with Pastor Tony Forman officiating. Jay will be deeply missed by all his family and friends. Thomas E.(John) Shell, 82, of Sheridan, passed away on February 22, 2007, at the Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. John was born on July 22, 1924 to Lawrence and Elizabeth (Rourke) Shell in Sheridan. After graduating from Arvada high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific and the Philippine Island Campaign during WWII. In June of 1947 he married Maxine Ann Dalzell in Buffalo, WY. John and Maxine were married 52 years. John enjoyed the outdoors and he and Maxine spent the last and best years of their lives together at the T Bar T Ranch. John enjoyed sharing his knowledge of farming and the care of livestock with family, friends and neighbors. John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maxine, and a son, John Robert Shell. He is survived by his two sons, Ken Shell and his wife Sue of Casper, WY and Bill Shell and his wife, Marcia of Colorado Springs, CO; and his four grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and burial of the cremains will be held this summer. The family is planning a "Shell Shindig" this summer to celebrate the lives of their mother and father. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements Judy Warren, 48, of Sheridan passed away at her home on Friday, February 16, 2007 surrounded by family and friends after a long courageous, battle with cancer. Judy was born on October 14, 1958 in Boston, MA, to Pasquale and Gloria (Nazzaro) Picariello. She graduated from Silver Lake Regional High School and received a nursing degree from Cape Cod Community College then went on to earn her Masters degree from the University of La Verne. Judy married Bill Warren on the ship Queen Mary on July 3, 1991 in Long Beach, CA. She was past board member of the Wyoming Nurses Association, past president of the Sheridan Nurses Association, and was a team member of the Relay For Life both nationally and locally. Judy was committed to the fight against cancer and recently, in her poor health, traveled to Washington, D.C. for the Relay For Life Walk Around the Mall. She was a dedicated and loyal woman that loved her family and friends and had a legendary love for animals. Judy is survived by her husband, Bill Warren of Sheridan; her children, Stephen, Casey, and Nicolas Warren all of Sheridan, her mother, Gloria Picariello of Banner, WY; her father, Pasqual Picariello of Pembroke, MA; her brothers, Stephen Picariello of Pembroke, MA, and Douglas Picariello of Harmony, ME; her aunt and uncle, Jackie and Dale Deam of Banner, WY; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. "Roy" Wertman, 83, of Sheridan passed away at his home on Saturday, February 17, 2007. Roy was born October 10, 1923 in Carney, Wyoming. His family moved briefly to New Mexico before returning to Wyoming where they lived in Kleenburn and Dietz. Following his mother’s death in 1939 Roy moved to Musselshell, MT with his father and brother. He graduated from high school in Musselshell and worked in the coal mine and various ranches in the area before going to Coeur d’ Alene, ID to work during the war. He took a job in the hayfields at Eatons’ Ranch in 1944. He spent several summers working at Eatons’ Ranch and winters working at Camelback Inn in Arizona. He married Nan Baker Eaton on April 15, 1951 and they made their home at Eatons’ Ranch until his retirement in 1998. They then moved to the Flying W Ranch in Wolf, where he lived until his death. Roy worked at many jobs while employed at Eatons’, from taking pack trips to the mountains, cooking for the barbeques, maintaining the plumbing and electrical systems, to building furniture for the cabins. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and a boy scout leader. Roy was an accomplished horseman and loved both performing in and watching rodeos. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and building furniture in his home shop. His biggest joy, though, was visiting with his many friends - no one was a stranger. Roy was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother, Bill, and sister, Nadine. He is survived by his wife, Nan and his children, Frank Eaton and his wife Kathy, Jaci Fritz and her husband Doyl, and Wendy Martin and her husband Jim. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jennifer Gulley, Jack Fritz, Laura Eaton, Mary Eaton, and Amy Martin and two great-grandchildren, Nan Gulley and Maya Fritz. Afer a private family service, a celebration of Roy’s life will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Eatons’ Ranch. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
