Donald E. Becker, 80, of Sheridan, WY, died Sunday, September 24, 2006 in Westview Health Care Center.

Mr. Becker was born December 5, 1925 in Sioux Falls, SD, to George and Mae (Robinson) Becker.  He grew up and graduated high school in Onida, SD.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and rose to the rank of QM2.  After the service he graduated from South Dakota State University.  He received his Master’s Degree in Agri Business from University of Wyoming. 

Mr. Becker married Betty Jane Davis October 28, 1950 in Rapid City, SD.  They lived in the Lander-Riverton area where he was a banker with the Federal Land Bank.  Mr. Becker was transferred to Worland, WY in 1960, where he was a Vice President for the Federal Land Bank.  After retiring from the bank, he was an independent farm and ranch appraiser until 1994. He moved to Sheridan in 2000 to be his daughters.

He was a very active member of the Methodist Church in Worland, a member of the Masonic Lodge in Worland and South Dakota, the Kalif Shrine, the Lion’s Club, and the Worland Chamber of Commerce.  Mr. Becker enjoyed golf, skiing and ice cream.

Mr. Becker was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Betty Jane.

He is survived by one son, Kevin Becker, of Cheyenne, WY; two daughters, Kathy Winkelmann and Karen Becker, both of Sheridan, WY; and 2 grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be 11:00am on Thursday (Sept. 28th) from the Methodist Church in Worland with the Rev. Grover Briggs officiating.  Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home, Sheridan.

Kenneth W. Burgess, 52, of Sheridan, passed away at the Sheridan VA Medical Center on Friday, September 8, 2006.

Kenneth was born on September 16, 1953 to William "Bill" and Virginia (Leis) Burgess in Sheridan. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1973 and attended Sheridan College. Kenneth joined the Navy in March of 1974 and served until his honorable discharge in 1994. He married Roberta Galve in San Diego, CA on February 11, 1978. Kenneth enjoyed fishing especially with his bestfriend Jim and his granddaughter. He was a member of the Eagles and the American Legion.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his father; and his siblings, Robert and Penny. He is survived by his wife, Roberta of Sheridan; his three sons, James Haskell of Sheridan, Joey Haskell of Virginia Beach, VA, and Kenny Burgess, Jr. of Sheridan; his mother, Virginia Burgess of Sheridan; his two granddaughters, Victoria Wentz and Elizabeth Burgess both of Sheridan; his siblings, Scott Burgess of WY, Mary Hackworth of CA, Linda Hildebrandt of IA, and Jim Burgess of WY; and his niece, Ruth Heitz of MN.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services with military honors will be held at Kane Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 1:00 pm. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be made in Kenneth’s name to the Wheden Cancer Foundation in care of Tara Keep, First Federal Savings Bank, PO Box 6007, Sheridan, WY 82801.


Camryn Elizabeth Davidson was born on August 30, 2006 in Billings, Montana. She was called to heaven on September 9, 2006. She is survived by her parents, Jeff and Julie Davidson, her twin brother, Tucker, and big sisters Sydney and Maysa, all of Dayton. Her grandparents are Diane Davidson of Sheridan, Ted and Donna Barten also of Sheridan, Vince and Kathy Davidson of Greeley, Colorado, and adopted grandparents Joe and Shirley Littrell of Huntley, Montana. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, great grandparents, and great aunts and uncles, and friends from Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and Iowa.

In her short time here with us on earth Camryn touched the lives of everyone who knew her and cared for her. We are so thankful to have had her with us if only for a short time. There is a memorial fund set up in Camryn’s name for donations to benefit the Tongue River Child’s Place in Ranchester. Donations can be made payable to the Tongue River Child’s Place and sent to the family home or to the Child’s Place at P.O. Box 232, Ranchester, WY 82839.


Wanda L. DesJarlais, 85, of Sheridan, passed away at Westview Health Care Center on Wednesday, September 6, 2006.

Wanda was born on March 23, 1921, to Abdul and Fatima Allie in Thoeny, MT, in North Valley County. She married Eugene "Mike" DesJarlais in Spokane, WA on June 14, 1957. He passed away on February 15, 2006. Wanda was a computer operator for PIE Trucking and had also been employed at Western Union. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling and after retirement she cared for her husband.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mike; her five sisters, Naphie Adams, Mona Rist, Selma Sotherland, Betty Stacey, and Gladys McCauley; her four brothers, Hammond Allie, Ted Allie, Sam Allie, and Alex Allie; She is survived by her numerous nieces and nephews, including The Reverend Ronald A. Stolcis of Sheridan.

Rosary will be recited at Kane Funeral Home on Friday, September 8, 2006 at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at Holy Name Catholic Church with The Reverend Ron Stolcis officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery in Big Horn, WY. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Jane Dickson, age 66, of Sheridan, WY died Monday, September 4, 2006, in her Sheridan home.

Jane was born January 22, 1940, in Harrison, Nebraska to Lester & Irene (York) Dunn.

Jane grew up and graduated high school in Harrison.  She graduated from Chadron State Teachers College.  Jane taught in country schools in Nebraska.  She married Chester Dickson on April 4, 1959, in Harrison.  They lived in California and then Casper, WY.  In 1968, they moved to Sheridan where she taught at Holy Name Catholic School.  In the late 1970’s she went to work at Marion Day Care Center and later operated her own Kiddie Korral day care until 1989.  Jane was a member of Bethesda Worship Center and enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling.  She loved reading the Bible and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Her parents preceded Jane in death.

Jane is survived by her husband Chester of Sheridan; daughter Irene Badgett of Sheridan; sons Chester Jr. and Don both of Gillette, WY; brothers Bill and Don Dunn of Harrison, NE and Pat and Lloyd Dunn of Mitchell, NE; and 9 grandchildren.

Viewing & Visitation will be 3:00pm until & 7:00pm on Thursday (Sept. 7th) from Champion Ferries Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be 10:00am on Friday from Bethesda Worship Center with the Rev.’s Scott Lee and Tim Charles officiating.  Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Memorials may benefit the Bethesda Worship Center.


Evelyn C. Donahue, 99, of Sheridan, WY, died Monday, September 4, 2006 in Sheridan Manor. 

Mrs. Donahue was born August 28, 1907 in Monarch, WY, to Thomas H. and Flora Belle (Wathan) Currie.  The family moved to Ranchester, WY when she was 4 years old where she attended grade school.  Evelyn then moved to  Brock, NB where she attended Brock High School, graduating in 1925.  Mrs. Donahue attended Heiman Business College in Sheridan for one year. 

Evelyn married Hershall Donahue November 23, 1927 in Sheridan.  The couple moved to Casper, WY in 1936, returning to Sheridan in 1938.  The Donahue’s moved to Thermopolis in 1955, then returning to Sheridan in 1972.

Mrs. Donahue worked for 9 years for Dr. Russell in Sheridan before moving to Thermoplis.  She worked for the Penney’s store in Thermopolis.  After returning to Sheridan, she worked for the Children’s Center for 4 years retiring in 1976.

Evelyn was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sheridan.  She was a Past Worthy Patron of Friendship Chapter #51, Order of the Eastern Star, and received her 70-year pin in 1997.  She was also a member of the Daughter’s of the Nile.

Mrs. Donahue enjoyed reading, playing Bingo, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershall, in 1978, her parents, and three sisters.

Evelyn is survived by three sons, Duane Donahue, of Sheridan, WY, Byron Donahue, of Cody, WY, and Tom Donahue, of Missoula, MT; 6 grand children; and 8 great grandchildren.

Graveside services for Mrs. Donahue will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 7, 2006 in the Masonic #8 Section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with the Rev. Brian Johnson officiating.  Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Christopher Dale Fairbank, 25, of Sheridan passed away unexpectedly at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County on Tuesday, September 19, 2006.

Chris was born on March 15, 1981 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Teresa (Goodrich) and Jeff D. Fairbank. He was raised and attended schools in Sheridan. In September of 2000 Chris married Heather Hudecek. They have three daughters, Fantasia, Kenda and Destiney. Chris had been employed as a mechanic at Fremont Motors for the last five years. He loved riding his dirt bike and spending time with his family and loyal dog, Rocky. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping. Chris was the kindest person you would ever meet. He always went out of his way to make people happy. Chris will be missed by all.

Chris was preceded in death by his grandfather, Hal Goodrich; and his uncle, David Fairbank. He is survived by his wife, Heather and his three daughters, Fantasia, Kenda, and Destiney all of Sheridan; his mother and stepfather, Teresa and Roger Livermore of Livingston, MT; his father, Jeff Fairbank of Chinook, WA; his brother, Adam Fairbank of Livingston, MT; his stepbrother, Shawn Livermore of Helena, MT; his sister, Tara Livermore of Livingston, MT; and his grandparents Glenn Dale and June Fairbank of Sheridan and Lillian Amelsberg of Townsend, MT.

Viewing will be on Friday, September 22, 2006 at Kane Funeral Home from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, September 23, 2006, at Kane Funeral Home with Reverend David Duprey officiating. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Grover, 87, of Sheridan, passed away on September 1, 2006, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Dorothy was born in Gratiot County, Michigan, to William and Maude Cora (Winters) Pratt on September 15, 1918. She married Lawrence Grover Sr. on November 18, 1933 in Ithaca, Michigan.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Grover Sr, her sons Lawrence Grover, Jr, and Mike Grover. She is survived by her sons and their wives, Mr. & Mrs. Darrel Grover of Carson City, Michigan, Mr. & Mrs. Lance Grover of Michigan, Mr. & Mrs. Marshall Grover of Wyoming, and her daughters, Mr. & Mrs. Ron Hinton of Santa Claus, Indiana, and Mary Beth Shattuck of Sheridan, WY, and her daughter in law, Mrs. Lawrence Grover Jr. of Michigan. She is also survived by twenty-six grandchildren, sixty-five great grandchildren and sixteen great, great grandchildren.

Dorothy loved praising God and loving her entire family. She attended the Big Horn Community Church.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at the Ranchester Community Church with Pastor Richard Christianson officiating. Burial will be in Michigan. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements


Anna Lucille Sundquist Kelly surrendered to lung cancer at Westview Healthcare Center on Friday, September 15, 2006.

She was born on January 16, 1923 in Sheridan to John and Hazel Sundquist. She grew up on Brooks Street in the heart of downtown Sheridan and graduated from Sheridan High School with the class of 1940. She married the love of her life, her highschool sweetheart Gerald Kelly, and they raised two sons together, Melvin and Gerald Jr.,who preceded his parents in death.

Anna worked as bookeeper for MDU, the Stevens Fryberger store, and John Burtis. After retiring, she and "Kelly" then pursued new careers of traveling, shopping and "collecting". They were active in the Good Sam’s Travel Club and spent extended vacations wandering the southern United States.

Anna was an avid collector–she loved her jewelry, china, teapost, cookbooks, craft books and never met a teddy bear she didn’t love. She was a member of the Creative Fiber Guild sewing circle and created exquisitely, colorful jackets, blazers, and vests that will be treasured by those family and friends that were fortunate enough to receive one.

She is survived by one son, Melvin, a daughter-in-law, Linda, a grandson, Coree, his wife Kary, and their children Celena, Lilly, and Emily, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 20, 2006, at 2:00pm in the Masonic section of the cemetery, with Pastor Gordon Henderson officiating. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Arthur Ernest Mitchell, 64, of Sheridan passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2006 at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

Art was born on June 3, 1942 in Sheridan to Lita May Whitten and John Allen Mitchell..

He was raised and attended schools in Arvada and graduated from Arvada High School in 1960. Following high school Art enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for four years. Upon his discharge he went to work for Songer’s Conoco. In 1970 Art married Kristina Mae Skretteberg. The couple made their home in Sheridan and raised two sons together. Art enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing darts, hunting in his earlier years and rides in the country. He was a member of the American Legion.

Art was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen May Mitchell. He is survived by his wife, Kristy of Sheridan; his two sons, John Allen Mitchell of Roy, Washington and Brian Craig Mitchell of Gillette, Wyoming.. One brother, Marcus A. Mitchell, of Sheridan and one sister, Clara A. Wootton of Worland, Wyoming; five grand children and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at Kane Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at 3:00 pm. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Martha Anne Peterson, 40, of Sheridan, WY, died Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at her residence.

Martha was born November 6, 1965 in Denver, CO to Colin Theodore and Diane (Carnine) Peterson.  She grew up and attended schools in Denver, graduating from Denver’s South High School in 1984.  Martha had been active in music, cross-country running, and was editor of the school yearbook.

She attended Colorado State University following high school.

Martha worked in managerial positions in retail clothing for many years in Colorado and Georgia before moving to Sheridan in 2003 where she was an operations assistant at Sheridan College.

She enjoyed skiing, reading, playing tennis and the piano, traveling, and especially spending time with her family.

Martha was a past member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by her parents, Colin and Diane Peterson, of Sheridan, WY; three sisters, Amy Giertz, of Denver, CO, Heidi Heuerman, (Wayne), of Sheridan, WY, and Inga Beehler, (Jeffery), of Redmond, WA; and six nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Martha will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Eunice "LeOra" Pitsch, 90, lifetime resident of Sheridan County, passed away at Sheridan Manor on September 2, 2006.

LeOra was born on December 9, 1915, to Earl and Mae Ferren Mathew in Banner, Wyoming. She was united in marriage to Alex Pitsch on June 2, 1935 and the two raised seven children together. LeOra loved time spent with her family, sewing, card games and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed traveling. In 1969 she was the first president of the Wyoming District of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church until the time of her death. LeOra led devotion services at Sheridan Manor for over fourteen years and was a member of the Piney Women’s Club.

LeOra was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Alex; her brother Lawrence Mathew; her grandson Jeffrey Ogan; and her great-grandson, Jeff Fry. She is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Ogan and her husband Ted of Reno, NV, Nelda Simonson and her husband Duane of Buffalo, WY, and Doris Schuman and her husband George of Sheridan; her four sons, Peter Pitsch and his wife Madeline of Rock Springs, WY, Leland Pitsch and his wife Della of Ft. Smith, AR, Gerald Pitsch and his wife Vera of Oak Harbor, WA, and Curtis Pitsch and his wife Janice of Buffalo, WY; her twenty-five grandchildren and thirty-nine great grandchildren; and her brother Frank Mathew and his wife Helen of Billings, MT.

A visitation will be held at Kane Funeral Home on Thursday, September 7, 2006 from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 8, at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 10:00 AM with Pastor William Heine officiating. Interment will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Frances Silla, 87, of Sheridan, passed away at Sheridan Manor on September 4, 2006.

Frances was born on September 14, 1918, to John and Anna (Michalek) in Monarch, Wyoming. She married Ugo Silla in Monarch, WY on August 20, 1939. Frances enjoyed growing roses and other flowers, gardening, and reading. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Wargo of Vancouver, WA; her son, Joe Silla of Castle Rock, CO; her beloved grandchildren; her brother, Walter Belish of Ranchester, WY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Kane Funeral Home on Friday, September 8, 2006 from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, September 8, 2006 at Holy Name Catholic Church with The Reverend Peter James officiating. Interment will follow in the Sheridan Elks Cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Richard D. Sinclair, 76 of Sheridan passed away on Monday, September 4, 2006 at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

Mr. Sinclair was born on May 14, 1930 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Fern E. (Carson) and

Howard B. Sinclair. He worked in the newspaper industry in sales and advertising for thirty years. Richard retired in 1992. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and photography and was a NRA member since 1976.

Richard is survived by his sister, Mary Helen and her husband Ed Copple of Lincoln, Nebraska and a nephew, Ken Copple of Fort Collins, Colorado.

Private family graveside services will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, September 9, 2006 in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements


Euvon (Moore) Snider, 96, of Sheridan, WY, died Saturday, September 9, 2006 in Sheridan Manor.

Mrs. Snider was born December 16, 1909 in Marsland, NB to Frank and Effie (Richey) Moore.  She grew up on a ranch close to Buffalo, South Dakota, and moved to a ranch at Lieter, WY when she was 16.

  Mrs. Snider married J. W. (Pete) Snider October 20, 1926 in Hardin, MT and the couple moved to the Snider Ranch west of Clearmont, WY.  Mr. and Mrs. Snider then moved to ranch west of Sundance, WY on Newman Divide where they ranched until 1951 when they sold the ranch to their son, Richard Snider.  The Snider’s moved to Upton, and in 1977 moved to Mesa, AZ.

Mrs. Snider was a ranch cook, ranch-hand, and mother.  She cooked at the Western Café in Upton, and built and operated a trailer park in Upton.  She was the main builder of the ranch home at Sundance, WY.  Mrs. Snider cooked for many years for all of the ranch-hands, and family dinners.

She was a member of the Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge in Upton, WY, and a lifetime member of the Rebekah Lodge in Mesa, AZ.  Between homesteading, ranching, being a wife and mother, there was very little time left for hobbies, but cooking was her main love.  She cared for her blind husband for 25 years before his death in 1995.

Mrs. Snider was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 6 sisters, and 1 brother.

She is survived by one son, Richard Snider, of Sheridan, WY, formerly of Sundance, WY; one daughter, Dorothy Chapman, of Sheridan, WY, formerly of Mesa, AZ; one sister, Esther Bracht, in Michigan; 5 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and many great, great grandchildren.

Inurnment of cremains will be in Upton, WY at a later date.  Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
