Anne Elizabeth Sanders Cook, 92, of Sheridan, WY died Monday, September 26, 2005, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. She was born May 6, 1913, to Clara Nelson Sanders and Joseph E. Sanders, in Great Falls, Montana. She graduated from Montana State University, in Bozeman, with a BS degree in biology. Anne married Willard E. Cook, Fargo, North Dakota, on July 27, 1938. They came to Sheridan in 1944. Member of Chapter T of PEO Sisterhood, Past State President. Anne was preceded in death by her husband Willard Cook, Sr. and a son Stephen. Anne is survived by son Willard E. Cook, Jr. of Boxford Massachusetts; daughters Judith Garber of Big Horn, WY and Janet Cook, of Indianola, Washington; Six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral service will be 11:00am on Thursday (Sept. 29th) from First Presbyterian Church with the Rev.’s Doug Melius and Brian Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery, Masonic Circle. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to PEO Educational Projects in care of Carol Stewart, 140 Edwards Court, Sheridan, WY 82801 Frank Demchok, 83, of Sheridan, WY, died Wednesday, September 7, 2005 in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Mr. Demchok grew up and attended schools in Sheridan,
and graduated from Mr. Demchok married D. Lerrene (Rene) Powell on February 9, 1947 in Sheridan. He went to work for the C. B. & Q-Burlington Northern Railroad in Sheridan, and became a switchman, and yardmaster, retiring from the railroad on September 12, 1986 after 41 years of service. Frank was a life member of the Eagle’s Lodge #186, and the UTU Union #951. He enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing, and was everybody’s “honey do’s” handyman. Mr. Demchok was preceded in death by his wife, Rene, his parents, and two brothers. He is survived by two daughters, Frankie Marks, of Salt Lake City, UT, and Gayle Brantz, of Sheridan, WY; one brother, Bill Demchok, of Sheridan, WY; three sisters, Kate Schubert, of Bremerton, WA, Alice Mentock, of Cody, WY, and Virginia Doyle, of Kansas City, MO; 5 grandchildren, Tara, Eric, Cari, Jeffrey, and Alycia; and 3 & ½ great grandchildren. Visitation for Mr. Demchok will be from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday, September 12, 2005, and from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with Father Ronald Stolcis officiating. Interment will be in the New Eagle’s Section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with military rites by the Wyoming National Guard and the American Legion Post #7. Box K, Sheridan, WY 82801 Russell E. “Rusty” Elliott, 90, of Sheridan, WY, died Wednesday, September 14, 2005 in Sheridan Memorial Hospital. “Rusty” was born June 18, 1915 in Paris, IL to Fred and Clara (Barkley) Elliott. In 1917, the family and grandparents moved to Gillette, WY as early homesteaders. “Rusty” grew up and attended schools in the Gillette area, and also attended high school in Midwest. He moved to Sheridan in 1940 to work for the CX and Sheridan Heights Ranches. He married Darlene Sayles, a Sheridan native, on August 15, 1943 in Hardin, MT. “Rusty” went to work for United Geophysical Co. in 1947. In 1949 he went to work as an operator at the Acme Power Plant for Montana Dakota Utilities Co., retiring after 28 years. In his retirement years, “Rusty” had an active wood working shop. His hobby was making and playing dulcimers, an Appalachian Mountain musical instrument. He entertained many school children and groups with his dulcimers and “dancing Men.” “Rusty” liked working in his garden, and also enjoyed “live” theater. “Rusty” was an active member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Sheridan, and sang in the church choir. He worked for a number of years as church custodian. He also sang with the Sheridan Aires. “Rusty” was a 55-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #646 in Sheridan. “Rusty” was preceded in death by his parents, one brother; two stepbrothers; & one half-sister. He is survived by his wife, Darlene, of Sheridan, WY; one daughter, Judy G. Huhman, (Anthony) of Enid, OK; one stepbrother, Paul Hite, of Longview, WA; and 4 grandsons, Jason G., Joey E., Jeremy B., & John E. Huhman. At “Rusty’s” request, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 17, 2005 at the First Christian Church, 102 S. Connor St., Sheridan, WY with the Rev. Connor St., or to the Sheridan Senior Center, 211 Smith St., Sheridan, WY 82801 Carliene Kathryn Georgen, 73, of Sheridan, WY, died Friday, September 9, 2005 in St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Billings, MT from complications of diabetes. Ms. Georgen was born June 13, 1932 in Sheridan, WY to Carl K. and Blanche Evelyn (Jenkins) Peters. She grew up and attended schools in Sheridan and graduated from Sheridan High School. Upon graduation, Carliene went to work at the Montgomery Ward Store as a bookkeeper for several years. She married Kenneth Earl Georgen August 14, 1952 in Sheridan, and the couple then moved to Worland, WY, then to northern California. Carliene returned to Sheridan where she worked at Jorgenson’s Jewelry. She then went to work as a bookkeeper for Dr. Ralph Groshart, retiring from Groshart Eye Clinic in 1997 after more than 35 years. Ms. Georgen was a member of the Trail End Guilds, and enjoyed spending time gardening, reading, and collecting antiques. She was preceded in death by her parents. Carliene is survived by one son, Kenneth Michael Georgen, of Auburn, WA; one daughter, Cynde Georgen, of Sheridan, WY; one grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life for Carliene will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Derryberry officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801. Scott A. Haglund, age 33, of Sheridan, WY died Thursday, September 8, 2005, in the Big Horn Mountains. Scott was born September 17, 1971, in Denver, CO to Ron and Virginia (Woslager) Haglund. The family moved to Sheridan when he was a young boy. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1991. Scott graduated from Denver Institute of Technology in 1994 where he received an outstanding student award. He returned to Sheridan where he married Lisa Huber on January 8, 1997. Scott was working as a delivery driver for United Parcel Service. Scott was a member of the B. H. Mtn. Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed darts, fishing, hunting, camping, watersports and being in the outdoors. Scott was preceded in death by a grandmother Betty Woslager and stepfather Sam Nishoff. Scott is survived by his father Ron Haglund of Buffalo, WY; mother Virginia Nishoff of Sheridan; wife Lisa Haglund of Sheridan; sons Kaleb, Jacob, and Dominic Grosso of Sheridan; brother Shawn Haglund of Sheridan; sister Tanya Haglund of Rapid City, SD; step brother Scott Nishoff of Shanghai, China; and Grandfather John Woslager of Sheridan. Memorial service will be 10:00am on Saturday (Sept 17th) from Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Ronald Stolcis officiating. A reception will follow in Holy Name Parish Hall. Jackie Ann (Obermueller) Harmon, 46, of Chehalis, WA, fromerly of Sheridan, went to be with her father in Heaven, on September 9, 2005 after battling cancer for one and a half years. Jackie was born to Reinold and Martha Obermueller on August 5, 1959 in Lincoln, Kansas. She attended grade school in Westfall, Kansas and moved with her family to Greeley, Colorado where she attended middle school. They then moved to Sheridan, Wyoming where she graduated from high school in 1977. Jackie was married to Ron Harmon on December 15, 1978. They moved to Yakima, Washington in 1979 where they raised their five children. Jackie went to work for Metal Benden in 1992 where she was a bookkeeper then to CMV Fabrication, now FAB Tech, before relocating to Chehalis in 1998. She then went to work for Ken Lyon at Industrial Fabrication and Testing as a controller until her death. Jackie is survived by her husband, Ron of twenty-seven years. Her children, Nicholas, Neil, Newton, Nathan, and Nicole, all at home. Her step-children, Sherina Eissler of Billings, Montana, Debra Hibbert of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Kenneth Harmon of Sheridan, Wyoming. Her mother, Martha Obermueller of Sheridan, Wyoming. Her siblings, Darla Lotz of Park City, Montana, Peggy Landis of York, Pennsylvania, Candy Morris of Woodstock, Georgia, and Brian Obermueller of Sheridan. Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Her father preceded her in death in 1982. Jackie’s love of life was her family, friends, and her job. Her children kept her busy most of the time but her job was very important to her. She had the greatest boss in the world and looked forward to going to work to watch the company grow. Her bosses support and love during her illness will never be forgotten. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor William Heine officiating with interment to follow at the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Diane “Coco” Larsen, 61, of Sheridan, WY, died Monday, September 5, 2005 at her residence. Mrs. Larsen was born September 30, 1943 in Waukegan, IL to James A. Witten, Sr. and Myrtle (Oulds) Barlow. The family moved to the Banner, WY area. She graduated from Big Horn High School in 1961. “Coco” married Harry A. Larsen in Las Vegas, NV in 1988, and she became a “Domestic Queen”. She enjoyed hunting, camping, traveling, gardening, and NASCAR. Mrs. Larsen was preceded in death by her husband, Harry. “Coco” is survived by one son, Richard M. Wimer, of Casper, WY; two daughters, Sheila M. Wimer, of Casper, WY, and Charle’ E. Drews, of Vallejo, CA; two brothers, James A. Witten, Jr., of Casper, WY, and Billy Witten, of Big Horn, WY; three sisters, Linda Evans, of Neenah, WI, Janet Pate, of Willis, TX, and Sharon Flores, of Wonder Lake, IL; and 5 grandchildren. Care of Sheridan Hospital, 1401 W. 5th St., Sheridan, WY 82801 Ibrahim Robert P. Montgomery, 68, of Sheridan, WY, died Wednesday, September 21, 2005 in Sheridan Manor. Mr. Montgomery was born January 21, 1937 in Denver, CO to Eugene and Elma (Powell) Montgomery. He grew up and attended schools in Denver, graduating from Denver East High School in 1954. Robert then attended the University of Denver, and graduated in 1958. Upon graduating from college, Mr. Montgomery joined the Peace Corps and served in Africa for two years. After the Peace Corps, Robert remained in Africa for another 6 years, and while there, met and married Ina Coumare. Mr. Montgomery returned to Denver, CO where he taught American Government and Social Studies at George Washington High School, and coached basketball. Robert retired from teaching in 1994, and moved to Sheridan in 1997. He helped coach basketball at Sheridan Junior College with Coach Bruce Hoffman. Robert enjoyed basketball, fishing, reading, studying African culture, loved to play scrabble, and loved to spend time with his friends and family. Mr. Montgomery was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by two sons, Sadat Montgomery, of Lewisville, TX, and Ibrahim Montgomery, of Chicago, IL; three daughters, Djenebou Montgomery, Mariamou Sims, and Kadiatou Petridis, all of Chicago, IL; and 5 grandchildren. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service for Mr. Montgomery will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 26, 2005 at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Derryberry officiating. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801 Gordon E. “Baba” Shipman, age 91, of Sheridan, WY died Sunday, September 25, 2005, in his Sheridan home. Gordon was born June 8, 1914, in Osseo, Wisconsin, to Harry & Effie Mae (Miller) Shipman. Gordon grew up and attended schools in Wisconsin. Married Arlene Gunnderson on December 7, 1934, in Eau Claire, WI. He came to Wyoming in the early 1940’s. Gordon worked as a radio announcer in Casper, WY. He was the first announcer here to report the death of Theodore Roosevelt. Arlene died in 1968. He owned and operated many businesses including liquor store, chicken farm and real estate. Gordon married Mia Hale in 1970 in Casper. She died in 1986. He moved to Story, WY in the early 1970’s and managed Bi-Rite Liquor in Sheridan and operated Wyoming Real Estate. He also owned and operated TLC Greenhouse for many years. He married Betty Stroup in 1988 in Hamilton, MT and they lived in Sheridan until she died in 2002. He then moved to Montana until returning to Sheridan in 2004 to be near his grandson Randy Bochmann. Gordon was preceded in death by his daughter Joann Milender; two brothers Max and Bert; and two sisters. Gordon is survived by two daughters Maxine Vering of Sun City, AZ and Patty Krasovich of Hamilton, MT; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Committal service will be private. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
James L. Stone, 65, of Sheridan, WY, died Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at his residence. At his request, cremation has taken place, and no services are planned. Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Marlowe, of Sheridan, and one grandchild. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
Rosie was born September 14, 1922, in Kleenburn, WY to Frank & Elizabeth (Mediate) Pedulla. Rosie grew up and graduated high school in Sheridan. After high school, she married Roy E. Cotton. They later divorced. She cooked on ranches for many years. She worked as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell until she retired. After retiring, Rosie married E.C. ‘Bud’ Wolfe in Sheridan. Bud died in 1987. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the Telephone Company Pioneers. Rosie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking for friends and family. Rosie was also preceded in death by three infant children and eight brothers and sisters. Rosie is survived by her son Dan Cotton of Richmond, CA; two daughters Diana Sonderby of Sheridan and Donna Hobbs of Baton Rouge, LA; three step-daughters, Kay Pittman, Peggy Ann Buss, and Patti Klinkosh, all of Sheridan, WY; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Viewing will be 9:00am until 5:00pm on Thursday (Sept. 8th) from Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 10:00am on Friday (Sept. 9th) in Sheridan Elks Cemetery with Father Ronald Stolcis officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
