He lived in Colorado and Montana before settling in Harlowton, MT. He worked in the Job Corps out of Darby, MT. Vincent enjoyed playing basketball and being with family and friends. SURVIVING RELATIVES Memorial service will be 12:00noon on Wednesday (June 18th) from Dayton Community Church with John Bouchard officiating. A reception will follow the service in the Dayton Park. Memorials may benefit Faith Chapel, 601 North West Pritchard , Harlowton, MT 59036 George Lewis Grotz, 51, of Sheridan, WY, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003 in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Mr. Grotz was born January 16, 2003 in Butte, MT. He grew up and attended schools in Sheridan, WY, graduating from Sheridan High School in 1971. After high school, Mr. Grotz joined the Navy where he served for 5 years during the Viet Nam Conflict. After his discharge from the Navy, Mr. Grotz returned to Sheridan where he went to work in the Central Garage for his father as a mechanic 1976. He became the owner of Central Garage in 1978, and operated the garage until 1990. Mr. Grotz then went to work for Woods Trucking Co. of Gillette, and operated a small garage at the corner of Dow and Gould in Sheridan. Mr. Grotz was driving truck for Woods Trucking at the time of his death. He enjoyed car racing, shooting, camping, pool, darts, and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Mr. Grotz was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by three daughters, all of Sheridan; two brothers, Kent S. Grotz of the Philippines; and John Grotz of Minneapolis, MN; two sisters, Sharon “Sha” Trout and Sherri Read, both of Sheridan; 7 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life for Mr. Grotz will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, June 23, 2003 at the V.F.W. Post on Broadway. George William “Bill” Grunkemeyer, 60, died June 16, 2003 at his home in Sheridan of Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Bill was born in Casper on July 27, 1942 to George and Prudence Grunkemeyer. He grew up in Sheridan and attended Sheridan schools. Bill graduated with a BS in microbiology from the University of Wyoming. He was an avid outdoors man who loved skiing, fishing, hiking, and camping. In the late 60’s Bill was given the opportunity to work with Jim Simon, a noted Disney wildlife photographer, who had taken a position with the Wyoming Travel Commission. It was after that summer that Bill realized his passion was film production with an emphasis on wildlife and other outdoor subjects. Bill formed a company called Grunko Films in the mid 80’s and began producing fishing, hunting, and wildlife videos. His work took him form the Arctic to the tip of South America. Bill produced over 40 outdoor and wildlife video titles since 1984 as well as 35 episodes for Grunko series “Experience the Wild.” During his career, Bill worked for all the major tlevision networks. He won numerous awards for his own production as well as is camera work for other production companies. The national Wildlife Federation and the Wyoming Wildlife Federation twice named him “Communicator of the Year” for Wyoming. This year, Gov. Dave Freudenthal proclaimed April 7th as “Bill Grunkemeyer Day In Wyoming” Bill was a dedicated and loving father and husband and is survived by his wife, Carol, their daughter, Gillian, Sheridan, and son, Cory, Denver. His mother, Prudence; sistr, Barbara Farr; nieces Tyler and Britt Marshall; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive him. The family has requested memorial’s in Bills name be made to the Montana MDA in care of Kay Roush, First Federal Savings Bank, P.O. Box 6007, Sheridan, WY 82801.
She grew up in Sheridan and would have been a junior in Sheridan High School. She was a very energetic and fun loving girl. She loved spending time with family and friends. Preceded in death by Grandmother Ruth Zimdars and Aunt
Patricia Zimdars. Mrs. Kilpatrick was born February 3, 1917 in Rogers, Texas to Emmett and Lula (Hause) King. SHe grew up and attended schools in Rogers, and married Duewad W. Kilpatrick, August 11, 1935 in Rogrs. During the war from 1942 to 1946, they lived in San Antonio, Texas. From 1946 to 1960, the couple loved in Ingleside. In 1960, they moved to Sinclair, WY, Mrs. Kilpatrick bcame a display manager at the J.C. Penney's store in Rawlins. They retired to Cheyenne in 1972. She relocated to Sheridan in 1998 where she resided until her death. MRs. Kilpatrick was a memeber of te North Cheyenne Baptist Church, enjoyed craftwork, caring for others, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Kilpatrick was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one son, Gene Kilpatrick of Sheridan; one sister Carolyn Gyger of Grand Junction, CO; four grandchildren; and 8 great reandchildren. Creamation has taken place and a memorial service for Mrs. Kilpatrick will be held 10am. Sunday, August 31, 2003 in the Lakeview Cemetery in Cheyenne, WY with family and friends. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
Leonard was born to Anton Thomas Lanka and Sylvia Brezina Lanka on January 7, 1923 at St. Paul, Nebraska. He attended school at Kearney, Nebraska. He later married Angeline Aufdengarten of Arthur, Nebraska at Mountain View, California in August 1943. He was a World War II Veteran and was a cryptographer with the 13th Air Force, 398th Signal Company (aviation) serving in the Pacific from 1943 to 1945. He Leaves behind his wife and their three sons, Jay Lanka and wife Jerene, Mark Lanka and wife Jolene, and Brand Lanka and wife Susan. He is also survived by a brother, Wayne Lanka of Sequim Washington, a sister Lorrayne Garton of Lewellen, Nebraska, four grandsons, two grand daughters, two great grandsons, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Leonard was a lifetime member of the Masons and Elks, and belonged to the American Legion and was a Veteran of Foreign Wars. He was an avid bird hunter and fisherman, who shared his knowledge of these hobbies with his sons and their friends. He will be most remembered as a loving husband and father. Kane Funeral Home handeled the cremation. There will be
no service but the family will have a private burial at a later date.

He grew up at Blue Spruce in the Big Horn Mountains. Arron attended Camp Bethel and Tongue River schools. He worked for Pastor Dan Keller and then E.H. Ofthdal & Son as an equipment operator doing construction. Arron enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, four wheeling and being in the mountains. He loved being with his family, friends and his dogs "Lady" and "Oscar". Preceded in death by his Grandfather Kenneth Rehder and

the service. Memorials may benefit the Donor's Choice. Mary L. (Newcomer) Sams, 52, of Sheridan, WY, died Friday, June 13, 2003, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. Ms. Sams was born March 20, 1951 in Sheridan to Earl H. and Ola (Kelly) Newcomer. She grew up and attended elementary schools in Ashland, MT, and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1969. She married Andrew Sams Thanksgiving Day, 1971 in Ashland, MT. Ms. Sams lived most of her life in the Sheridan area. She was a baker and cook for the Senior Citizen’s Center. Ms. Sams belonged to numerous lodges and organizations, enjoyed painting, going to the pond at her place where she could feed the fish, loved being with animals, cutting hay, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her father and 2 aunts. Ms.
Sams is survived by her mother, Ola Newcomer of Billings, MT; two sons,
Earl and Fred Sams of Sheridan; two daughters, Amy Bennage and husband,
Gary; Amandy Romero and husband, Frank all of Sheridan; one brother, John
Newcomer of Phoenix, AR, two sisters, Becky Elliott and husband, Dean,
of Tucson, AR, Teresa Newcomer of Billings, MT; and 2 granddaughters.
Danny Lee Schulz, 59, of Sheridan, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2003, at Deaconess Medical Center in Billings, Montana. Danny was born on October 23, 1943, in Burlington, Colorado, to Ruben William and Pearl Evelyn (Diekman) Schulz. He married Donna Rae Hood on December 26, 1990 in Fort Collins, Colorado. Following high school Mr. Schulz served in the Navy during 1961 and 1962. Danny's proudest accomplishment was starting college at age fifty. He graduated from Sheridan Community College in 1997 with a degree in arts and a degree in science. He loved his dogs, his garden, and was anticipating another train trip across the country. Danny especially loved his wife, Donna, who was the very center of his life. Mr. Schulz was preceded by his father, Ruben; and his mother-in-law, Catherine Hood. Survivors include his wife Donna of Sheridan; His three children from a previous marriage, his two sons, Don Schulz and his wife Anne of Windsor, CO, and Ron Schulz of Platteville, CO; and his daughter Roxane Williams and her husband James of Greeley, CO; his mother Pearl Schulz of Lockport, LA; his brother Jim Schulz and his wife Bonnie of Raceland, LA; and six grandchildren. A viewing will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at Kane Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at Kane Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Gifford officiating. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Gayle was born on April 13, 1918, in Gorin, Missouri, to William and Emma (Brookhart) Shaw. On August 29, 1948 he married Rosemary Riddell and their union was blessed with three children. Mr. Shaw attended Colorado University then joined the
Air Force for 27 years. He served his country in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam
and flew 16 missions while in England. Gayle retired as a Major in 1969.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golf, horseback riding and baseball. Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Kane Funeral Home handled the arrangements. The family has requested that memorials be made in Gayle's

First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801. Millie Simons, 96, of Sheridan, WY, died Saturday, June 28, 2003 in Sheridan Manor. Mrs. Simons was born June 5, 1907 in Serepta, Russia to Henry and Elizabeth (Roth) Kerbel. She came to the United States with her parents by ship in 1913 to Baltimore, MD. They then came to Havilok, NB where her father worked for the railroad. The family moved to Clearmont, WY and she attended grade school in Big Horn, WY, and graduated from Sheridan High School. Mrs. Simons then worked on numerous dude ranches in Arizona, and worked at Eaton’s Dude Ranch. She also was a clerk in drugstores. She married Guy F. Rogers in Sheridan. Mr. Rogers died in 1972. Mrs. Simons later married Ray Simons of Sheridan. Mrs. Simons was a 50 year member of P.E.O., the Sheridan Women’s Club, was an avid bowler and bridge player, loved her flowers, yard, and home; enjoyed going to the Kaufmann Ranch on Piney Creek; loved to sing and dance, and was a member of the church choir. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, 4 brothers, 1 sister, 1 niece, and 2 nephews. Mrs. Simons is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mrs. Simons will be held at Champion Ferries Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 1, 2003 from 8:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 1, 2003 in the Elk’s Section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Miller officiating. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Nevada Holifield Smith age 81 of
Sheridan, WY She grew up and attended schools in Kentucky. She moved to Ogden, UT, where she worked in the Army Hospital. She married Marshall F. Holifield on February 10, 1944, in Ogden. They moved to Lance Creek, Wyoming, where they raised cattle and sheep. Mr. Holifield died in 1964. She married Doyle Blackmore in December, 1965. She moved to Lusk, Wyoming, and worked as a housekeeper. In 1970, she moved to Greeley, CO. She married Bernard Smith in 1972 in Farmington, NM. In 1982, she returned to Colorado and then moved to Sheridan in 1993. She loved her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting, needlework, tatting, crocheting, sewing and helping other people. He grew up and graduated high school in Sheridan. Enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving on many aircraft carriers with tours of duty off the coast of Viet Nam. Tom married Gwendolyn Ann Hamilton in 1955 in Concord, CA. He rose to the rank of Master Chief and retired from the Navy in 1973. After the service, he returned to Sheridan where he managed the XL Lounge for several years. In 1982, he moved to Safford, AZ. Tom enjoyed shooting guns and military and firearms history. Preceded in death by one son Jeff; sisters Gladys and
Thelma; and brothers Fritz, Jack, Harry, Bill and Leo. Memorial service will be 2:00pm on Friday (June 20th)
from Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Wilbur Holz officiating. Inurnment
will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Military rites are by the American
Legion and the National Guard.
She was the daughter of William P. Toy, Jr., and Helen M. Anderson Toy. She attended college in Kansas and did graduate work at Georgetown University, University of Minnesota, University of Washington, and University of Wyoming. She also participated in many computer and technology courses. She worked for the federal government for three years after she graduated from college in 1966. She then began her teaching career at Sheridan High School, teaching English for 31 years before her retirement. At SHS, she served as Humanities Division Head from 1988 to 1993. Later she was English Department Head from 1993-2000. She received numerous honors during her career, including being named as Sheridan's Teacher of the Year in 1987. Her husband, Ronald D., of the family home, survives her. Other survivors include three children; Kathleen Anne of Eugene, OR, Scott Patrick on active duty with the USMC (wife Amy and son Dylan), and Michelle Erin of Rhododendron, OR. Three sisters also survive her; Patricia Toy of Tacoma, WA, Marilyn Suppes of Tacoma, and Cathy Gamas of Minot, ND. Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She enjoyed gardening, canning, reading and being with friends. Cremation has taken place in Sheridan. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2003, at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Dave Duprey officiating. Kane Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
