SHS FOOTBALL - The Sheridan Broncs have been on the field for a day now, and Head Coach Don Julian says it's going to be a tough week, but in the end, it'll be worth it for the players and the coaches. The Broncs are coming off an 8-2 season and a semi-final playoff game. They return a nice group of skilled players and expectations are high for the upcoming season. Julian says it's good to know that other teams respect what the Broncs have done.
FALL SPORTS MEETINGS - The Big Horn player/parent meetings for volleyball and football will take place this Friday night. The Rams will meet at 6 o'clock in the gym and the Lady Rams Volleyball team will meet at 6 o'clock in the cafeteria.
GOLF - Tereasa Dewald of Sheridan had her first hole-in-one at the Powder Horn last Thursday. She aced the par three, Eagle number three. The Ace was witnessed by her husband Doug and grandson Deacon.
Big Horn and Tongue River Golf Coach Sandy Michelena will have his Big Horn golf meeting tomorrow at 4 o'clock, then at Tongue River at 7 pm.
POLO - The Flying “H” Polo Ranch has more action coming up this week, as they play both Thursday and Saturday afternoons at 1 o'clock with the “Skeeter Johnston” Memorial Cup. Admission is free.
TENNIS - The Sheridan Bronc and Lady Bronc Tennis Teams are camping this week through Thursday. The camp runs in the evenings from 6 to 8 o'clock at the Sheridan High School Tennis Courts. The camp is free and open to all players.
UW FOOTBALL - Wyoming holds the first of its two-a-day practices today after donning full pads for the first Monday in Laramie. The Cowboys are also scheduled to hold two-a-day practices this Thursday and Saturday. The Cowboys are conducting their fall practice in the field south of War Memorial Fieldhouse. On Monday, the team conducted its first practice in full pads. Coach Dave Christensen says he is challenging his players to be more physical and competitive on both sides of the ball.
MLB ROCKIES - Troy Tulowitzki hit for the cycle and had a career-high seven RBI's to help the Colorado Rockies beat the Chicago Cubs 11-5 last night. It was the sixth cycle in the Majors this season, and the eighth time in Coors Field history a player has hit for the cycle. The last Colorado player to hit for the cycle was Mike Lansing, who did it on June 18, 2000. The Rockies won the series 3-1. They'll open a home series against Pittsburgh tonight. Right-hander Aaron Cook is scheduled to start against Pirates' right-hander Ross Ohlendorf.
NFL BRONCOS - The Denver Broncos will kick off their pre-season this Friday night with a road game against the San Francisco 49ers. We'll have the action for you live on AM 1410 KWYO. Pre-game will get things started at 7 o'clock, with kickoff set for just after 8 o'clock.
