BRONC FOOTBALL - A year ago the Sheridan Bronc football team returned to the elite ranks in class 4-A football and they hope to keep the momentum going into 2009 last year they went on an eight game winning streak made it to the top of the 4-A rankings before the season ended in the semi final round of the playoffs head coach Don Julian says the program has regained the respect of teams in the league. The Broncs are two and half weeks into practice and the players have done a great job of getting ready. They open the season at Homer Scott stadium Friday night against Casper Kelly Walsh, Julian says they are ready to play for real. HS FOOTBALL - The Big Horn Rams and Tongue River Eagles football teams will get together with Glenrock Saturday afternoon at Sheridan high school for a three team zero week scrimmage starting at noon. The regular season opens next Thursday night for the Rams they host Greybull at 7 pm at Homer Scott stadium the Eagles open at home next Friday afternoon against Hulett.
HS SPORTS - The rest of the high school fall season opens Thursday for the Sheridan high school tennis teams they'll be in Gillette for matches with Jackson and Riverton.
The Bronc and Lady Bronc cross country teams will open at the Casper mountain invitational Friday tomorrow we will have a preview of the Sheridan high school cross country season.
The Lady Bronc swimmers and divers will be at the Casper relays Friday and the Gillette pentathlon Saturday.
The Lady Bronc and Big Horn Lady Rams volleyball teams will play at the Riverton invitational tournament Friday and Saturday and the Tongue River Lady Eagles will open at a tournament in Lovell.
MLB ROCKIES - It was another thriller at Coors field last night, the night after Seth Smith hit an eighth inning home run to beat San Francisco they did it to the Giants again last night. The game went into the 14th inning San Francisco looked to have put the game away scoring three runs to take a 4-1 lead the Rockies scored a run in the bottom of the 14th then loaded the bases for Ryan Spilbourghs that's the first walk off grand slam in Rockies history and gave them a 6-4 win and a four game lead in the national league wild card chase and now just three back of the LA in the division, back in May the Rockies trailed the Dodgers by 15 games now they play the Dodgers in a three game series which begins tonight at Coors field.
