On the final barrel race of the day Whitney Simmons of Decker ran a quick 18.04 to win Senior Barrels on Saturday afternoon. Whitney was participating in the Senior events (ages 14-18) of the Young Riders Rodeo held at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds. There was something for everyone up to the age of 18. In addition to 4-classes of barrel racing (Pee Wee, Buckaroo, Junior & Senior) were events that included: steer riding, calf scramble, chute doggin, pole bending, breakaway roping, flag race, goat tying, ribbon roping, steer roping and team roping. In addition to these events were four no-horse events: goat tail tying, dummy roping, boot race and stick horse race. It was six hours of non-stop action for participants and spectators alike - some from as far away as Denver.
