It is 1:00 pm Tuesday and the Woodland Park Elementary Orchestra is on stage ready for "An Island Christmas" in front of a standing room only audience as Principal Jack Brimhall welcomes the guests. The orchestra started with "Jolly Old St. Nick" and two other selections followed by the Woodland Park Honor Choir. Then it was time for the kindergartners who performed "Jingle Bells" and "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer." Then came the 2nd graders followed by the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders during the hour and a half "An Island Christmas." Many think of the Hawaiian Islands when when discussing islands and it was the fourth graders that got to sing "A Hawaiian Christmas" and perhaps in that process learned that Mele Kalikimaka in the hawaiian language means Merry Christmas.
