CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - As swine flu spreads around the state, the Wyoming High School Activities Association is discussing how a swine fl outbreak might impact statewide culminating events.
Commissioner Ron Laird suggested adding an illness provision to existing rules on such events. Under his proposal, if the number of teams in a culminating event exceeds 25% of those participating, the event manager will consider postponement or cancellation of all or part of the activities.
The rule was drafted more for the purposes of weather-related travel difficulties, but Laird felt swine flu and other strains of the flu virus should fall under the provision.
