The Wyoming Business Council Thursday recommended approval of two $1 million grants that will greatly benefit and expand the performing arts in Sheridan. The grants that were approved will go toward renovation of the Perkins Building into a Performing Arts & Education Center for Sheridan College students and residents of the community, as well as expansion of the WYO Theater.
Sheridan College Dean of Arts and Sciences Ardath Lunbeck says that this is a huge step for the College.
WYO Theater Board Member Dick Davis indicated that this is the first step in the big picture of expanding performing arts in the community.
The Community Facilities and Downtown Development grants still must be approved by the SLIB Board at their June 16th meeting. Plans to remodel the Hallmark building will now come during a future phase of the project, as additional funding sources are identified.
