Albert “Smokey” Wildeman was appointed the Chairman of the Board of Johnson County Commissioners at their regular meeting Tuesday. Aaron Palmer has more.
Wildeman takes over the position vacated by Gerald Fink, who was not re-elected in last November's election. During the meeting the commissioners appointed themselves to the various boards and as liasons to other county boards.
In other county business at the meeting, the commission approved the Holiday schedule for county employees.
An agreement to purchase land from WyDOT adjacent to the new criminal justice center was sent to the County Attorney for his approval.
County Planner Rob Yingling gave a report on planning projects.
The commissioners accepted a change order from the CJC project for a credit back to the county for just over $34,000.
The issue regarding salary caps for deputy officials in the county was readdressed with the commissioners deciding to wait until it was closer to the next budget cycle this Spring before making any changes to the policy.
Emergency Management Coordinator Marilyn Connelly discussed the possibility of changing cell service providers for her phone and discussed the possibility of County Fire using an old antenna for their communications tower. Fire Chief Wes Johnson will look into the possibility.
