During President Obama's State of the Union Address on January 27, 2010, he stated that he will work with Congress and the military to "finally repeal the law, known as 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' that denies gay Americans the right to serve the country they love because of who they are." He had made similar statements during previous speeches; however, his State of the Union speech was the first in which he definitively committed to repealing the law on a set timetable. The policy being back in the news prompted this week's Bank of Sheridan - sheridanmedia.com weekly poll question: "Should the policy of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' in the military be changed?"
