VA staff and others from the community packed the hallways of the remodeled third floor medical unit at the VA Medical Center Wednesday afternoon for a ribbon cutting ceremony that included tours of the new ward.

The final cost of the project was approximately $3.9 million. The process began in June of 2007 when the VA began to seek approval from Washington, after approval and funding the actual project took about 18 months. They will begin moving in patients on Monday. More than 100 attended the ceremony and took tours.
The unit is located at the VAMC, building 71, on the third floor. The VAMC was converted to a hospital in April of 1922 from a military fort, originally intended to serve those returning from WWI with what is now known as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, according to the VAMC's website. The Sheridan VA serves veterans across the entire Rocky Mountain region.
