The Tenth Annual Johnson County Relay For Life took place Friday and into Saturday at the Buffalo High School track. Dana Delaney, first-year organizer for this year's relay, said although there were some trying moments, she was pleased with how it turned out.
Relay For Life is a fundraiser to raise money for cancer research and to help defray expenses for those fighting the disease and their families, sponsored by the American Cancer Society.
Events included the Children's Luminaria, the Luminaria, and of course, the ever-present teams and individuals and their laps around the track. Names of those affected by cancer, both survivors and those no longer with us, were recognized during the events as well.
Although exact figures weren't yet available, this year's Johnson County Relay For Life was estimated to have raised more than $22,000.
