The Child Development Center, Region II will be having their Child Development Screenings next week in Sheridan and Buffalo.
The free screenings will determine a child's vision and hearing and where a child is in developing gross motor and fine motor skills, and cognitive and speech skills. Because they are funded by the state, any services they provide in these areas to the children that need them are free to the families.
Cassey Dyess, Early Interventionist and Family Services Coordinator in Buffalo, said the testing is required in some instances, but a good idea for all children to have.
Screenings will be performed in Sheridan and Buffalo and should take roughly 30 minutes to complete. Call ahead for appointments as this is a busy time of year for them, Dyess said.Screenings are performed monthly throughout the year in both offices, but preschool-age kids are a priority just before school starts.
