The City of Sheridan received some good news regarding the unfunded EPA mandate to safeguard the water treatment plant from cryptosporidium.
The State Loan and Investment Board Thursday approved $1.4 million in grant funding to help cover the cost of the project.
Sheridan Mayor Dave Kinskey was in Cheyenne for the meeting and says that the approval of the funds didn't come easily.
Kinskey said that the $1.4 million will indeed help, but that its only a quarter of the cost of the project and that they will continue to look for ways to come up with the additional funding that will be needed.
The upgrades to the Sheridan Water Treatment Plant must be done by the summer of 2013.
