During the last several months, there has been a handful of incidents of pedestrians, either walking or on a bicycle that have been struck by a motorist within a crosswalk. The Sheridan Police Department wants motorists to know a few things concerning crosswalks in Sheridan. SPD Sergeant Tom Henry explains.
One area that is of primary concern is the intersection of Brooks and Burkitt Streets next to the Courthouse.
The Sheridan County Commissioners last year hired Fehr and Peers Consulting to conduct a traffic analysis around the Courthouse. In March, the County acknowledged receipt of the completed study that indicated that the Brooks Burkitt intersection did indeed pose a safety issue for pedestrians, and that closing Brooks from Burkitt to the top of the hill should be considered.
