The Sheridan College Outdoor Adventure Club will be hosting a community gear swap on Saturday, April 20 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sheridan College Golden Dome. The club help its first gear swap in November, and club president Ron Kraft said in a media release he's excited to host another one this month.
Kraft says the club received lots of winter equipment and clothing this past fall and attendees can expect to see plenty of skis and snowboards - but also items geared towards having fun outside during the coming summer months.
Julie Davidson, club advisor, says the benefits of a gear swap are two-fold: it's a chance for people to pass on equipment and clothes they don't use to someone who will use it, and that it's a great way to let growing kids try out new outdoor activities without breaking the bank.
Admission to the event is free for buyers, but there is a fee for sellers. Davidson says there will be a drop–off period for gear on Friday, April 19, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Golden Dome. Sellers will need to pay an entry fee and set a price for each of your items. The cost to sellers is $2 per item, plus 10 percent of each sale - and all proceeds benefit the college's outdoor club.
On the day of the sale, between 4 and 6 p.m., people can pickup any unsold gear. If these pick-up or drop-off times don’t fit your schedule, alternate arrangements can be made. For more information, people can call 307-461-9285 or email sheridancollegeOAC@gmail.com. Davidson says donations will graciously be accepted.
