The Sheridan City Council met in a special session yesterday to consider a grant application by Forward Sheridan. The grant would be a $25,000 planning only grant from the Wyoming Business Council. It would be part of the Community Development Block Grant program and must be applied for by the City on Forward Sheridan’s behalf. Sheridan Mayor Dave Kinskey...
The grant would help fund a conceptual design for a business park that could tentatively be located in North Sheridan. Comments received during the North Main Revitalization Initiative indicated that a business park would be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
The Council voted to approve the grant application. Forward Sheridan has not identified a specific property but will be required to have one before any grant funds could be dispersed. The City did pledge the $8,000 matching funds required by the grant, in addition to the application.
The Council had planned on addressing the first reading of an ordinance that would create a Gateway Zoning District. The City Planning Commission tabled the matter at their meeting earlier this week and will hold a special session of their own tonight. The first reading of the Gateway Zoning Ordinance will be on the regular City Council agenda next Monday.
