Recently, the City of Sheridan has been devoting more resources to improving the parks and pathways system throughout the community. Part of that effort has included encouraging the public to bring to the table their vision of what the parks should be. The Thorne-Rider Park Steering Committee presented those concepts to the City Council yesterday. P-B Consulting Principal Melissa Butcher:
The park is bigger than most people think, running from 11th Street nearly all the way to Fort Road. The public workshops and focus groups came up with several suggestions, which included: moving the BMX bicycle track, rehabilitating the overgrown areas of the park, relocating the skate park, and maybe even putting in a water park. Sheridan Mayor Dave Kinskey talks about his view of the suggestions:
This is just the beginning of the process and the next step would be to begin searching for funding. The plan is designed to be a 10 – 15 year look ahead for Thorne-Rider Park.
