*UPDATED* 11:49 AM
The Sheridan County School District #1's bus barn, located in the old Apostolic Lutheran Church, went up in flames this morning.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by a team of state fire inspectors. State-level inspections are routine protocol for structure fires.
Doug Enloe, fire chief at the Big Horn Fire Department, talks about how his crew got involved.
Enloe's team was joined by Sheridan Fire Rescue and the Goose Valley Fire department in fighting the blaze. He said the building might have been burning for a while before anyone noticed.
The building is heavily damaged; the roof is missing, none of the building's walls are intact, and at least three vehicles parked near the structure are also destroyed. The building was vacant when it ignited, and no firemen were injured during their morning's work.
The blaze is now completely extinguished, but Enloe said he will keep a fire truck on the scene throughout the day.
