The Sheridan Community Land Trust has announced the establishment of the Sheridan County Historic Mine Byway. SCLT nominated this 18-mile auto-tour route to the Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources Monuments and Markers Program, says SCLT Director Colin Betzler.
Historic conservation is also a part of what the SCLT addresses, and Betzler indicates a unique aspect of the former mining communities.
Betzler says that you can go to the museum or library to learn about the area, but there's nothing on an interpretive level where one can drive the area. He explains how that will be put into place with the State.
Betzler says that the Sheridan Community Land Trust will be hosting an open house in either June or July about the Mine Byway project. To sign up for e-mail updates or to provide input on the project, Call: 673-4702 or visit: http://sheridanclt.org
