The Sheridan County School District One Board of Trustees approved their budget for fiscal year 2010-2011 at their monthly meeting Wednesday night. The District budgeted $14.3 million in projected revenue, which is a a 3.6% increase from last year, and $14.1 in expenditures, which is a 5.5% increase. Business Manager Jeremy Smith explains why the increase in expenditures is almost two percent higher than the projected revenues.
The budget allows for the District to put $210,000 into the reserve fund. The Board also approved a total of $326,000 in adjustments from last year's budget. There was also discussion by the board regarding what to do with the Big Horn Mural. District One Superintendent Sue Belish explains that figuring out what to do with the mural has been an ongoing dilemma.
As far as the Board's decision on the future of the mural?
Belish said that now they will work on a plan to store the mural until the elementary school is complete. They are considering two options currently, the Sheridan V.A., or the Sheridan County Museum.
