Sheridan College is once again offering free income tax preparation this year, as students have been working for the past month to become certified in income tax preparation through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program sponsored by the IRS. Sheridan College Business Instructor Tracy Dearinger.
Dearinger said that they generally limit the income to $50,000 or less, but that if the returns are simple, they can expand on that amount. Something new this year will be the scheduling of appointments.
There are eight scheduled tax preparation sessions over the next several months, all of which will take place on either a Friday or Saturday. Dearinger stressed that people need to have a government issued photo ID and their social security card in order to receive the assistance. A full list of scheduled dates and times are listed below:
Saturdays 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
Fridays 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
