Johnson County hosted the Northern Wyoming Community College District Board of Trustees meeting Thursday in Buffalo, and a major topic of discussion was the State Legislative session and the possibility of losing funding for salary increases for state employees, as well as employees at the state's community colleges and the University of Wyoming.
Dr. Paul Young, President of the NWCCD, said the money had been earmarked by former Governor Dave Fruedenthal, but has since become a target for budget cuts in the current administration. Young said he and others are working to get the funding passed.
Also at the meeting Thursday, the board heard reports from the Gillette College Advisory Board, the Johnson County Advisory Board, the Faculty Senate, a report on various Foundations and an update on gifts to the colleges.
The Trustees approved the Gillette College Advisory Board members; approved minor changes to Gillette College's by-laws; and approved budget amendments to the BOCHES Fund and the Operating Fund.
