A single vehicle accident on Interstate 90 yesterday, claimed the life of the driver. Just before 2:00 yesterday afternoon, an International commercial truck was driving eastbound on Interstate 90. For an unknown reason the driver lost control of the vehicle and it went off the right side of the roadway. The driver overcorrected and skidded across both lanes of traffic into the median. The vehicle rolled several times before coming to rest on the driver’s side.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol and Rocky Mountain Ambulance responded to the accident site approximately two miles from the Mead Creek Road interchange. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Highway Patrol Troopers say the adult male was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. The driver has been identified as 48-year-old Douglas Vandyken from Manhattan, Montana.
The passing lanes of both sides of the interstate were closed for several hours as crews worked to remove the wreckage from the median.
