The first public meetings concerning water rights and other issues between Johnson and Sheridan Counties and the Lake DeSmet Counties Coalition will be held Tuesday in both communities.
The Sheridan and Johnson County Commissions will have their special public meetings beginning at 9am in their commission chambers and the LDCC Joint Powers Board will have their meeting at 4pm Tuesday afternoon in Buffalo at the County Planning Office.
All three meetings are open to the public and those interested are encouraged to attend, listen to the various proposals and comment.
After last week's Water Rights Work Group meeting, Johnson County Commissioner John Gibbs said he felt the three representatives had come up with a few good compromises for discussion at Tuesday's meetings.
These first meetings will gather input from each county commission and from members of the public for the Water Rights Work Group to then further negotiate at a meeting tentatively scheduled for Wednesday.
The work group is trying to reach an agreement between the three entities and then make a proposal to the Wyoming Game and Fish for a lease of water rights at the lake at the next G&F meetings in Rock Springs in November.
