The search process is underway for the new president of the Northern Wyoming Community College District, which comprises Sheridan College and Gillette College.
Tuesday, Dr. Pamila Fisher, a representative of the Association of Community College Trustees, or ACCT, held two public forums to discuss with each college and community how ACCT will be helping the search committee to recruit the best candidates to fill the position left vacant by Dr. Kevin Drumm.
She explained that one of the first steps is for input to be gathered as to the principal challenges and opportunities the colleges must address in the next three to five years; the principal professional and personal characteristics needed in an ideal presidential candidate for the District; and are there individuals who should specifically encouraged to become candidates for the position.
Fisher told the group that nationwide, there is a healthy competition for community college leadership positions, as many current presidents are retiring or near retiring.
One of the attendees of the Sheridan College forum asked how the ACCT can help eliminate a candidate who might be looking to use this potential position as a "stepping stone" to something bigger and better for their career. Fisher had this surprising answer.
Fisher invites anyone who has input on what kind of person would make the ideal candidate for the president's position of the Northern Wyoming Community College District to e-mail her at email@example.com.
