Buffalo City Councilman Justin Gerard's preliminary hearing is scheduled for today in Gillette, stemming from his arrest last week on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
Gerard was arraigned in Campbell County Circuit Court last Thursday on the charges, and was released on a $2,500 personal assurity bond after being held in the Campbell County Detention Center since his arrest on Tuesday.
Buffalo Police Chief Jason Carder has no specific knowledge of this case, but explains what can constitute “intent to distribute.”
Gerard faces up to $10,000 in fines, up to 10 years in prison, or both on the felony charges.
Gerard, who has worked for the Wyoming Wilderness Association in addition to performing his duties as a city councilman, is on an unpaid
leave of absence, according the WWA.
