Electricity bills are substantially higher at the new Buffalo/Johnson County Justice Center, compared to the old building, according to information discussed at the last county commissioner's meeting January 3.
Commissioner Smokey Wildeman asked Clerk Vicki Edelman about the bill during the meeting.
The power bill is approximatley 25% higher than the old building, but commissioner John Gibbs said the new justice center is substantially larger than the previous building, so the higher bill is “not that bad,” he said.
The City of Buffalo is responsible for 18% of the bills associated with the building.
The commissioners also discussed some minor warranty issues with Sheriff Kozisek.
There have been some issues with carpet coming up in some areas of the new building, and door handles that had come loose. Kozisek said Groathouse Construction was repairing and replacing items under warranty as needed, and they are doing so to his satisfaction.
