Consumer prices seem to keep rising for food, and yet many producers, such as local beef ranchers, are seeing record-low prices for their products.
Mike Callicrate addressed the annual meeting of the Powder River Basin Resource Council on Saturday. He says that retailers are holding the most pricing power now.
In fact, there are enough domestic ranching operations to supply our nation’s demand for beef, yet nearly 20% of the beef consumed in the U.S. is imported.
The Powder River Basin Resource Council originally organized to address agriculture concerns nearly 40 years ago. Bill Bensel says anyone can become a member of the Council.
