Drivers may notice a new flashing light on Broadway Street to warn them of pedestrians crossing at Alger Street in the future. City crews were using the warmer weather on Thursday to place the flashing amber light. City Public Works Director Nic Bateson says the crosswalk is part of the recent upgrades to the pathway system in that part of town.
The new signal light will be similar to those place on South Sheridan Avenue near the RENEW facility. It will be manually triggered and provide a blinking amber light to warn motorists of pedestrians. The unit is also equipped with solar panels to make the light more energy efficient.
