At their meeting Thursday, the Board of Trustees for the Northern Wyoming Community College District approved plans to move forward with renovation and expansion of a new campus center at Sheridan College.
The 16,000 square-foot Thorne-Rider Campus Center will undergo major renovations and will expand by 12,000 square-feet. Construction is set to go to bid in early April, with construction to commence in May.
Trustee Walt Wragge explained some of the features within the Thorne-Rider Campus Center, mentioning that one of the many cornerstones of the new addition will be a dining hall surrounded by different types of seating.
Wragge said there will be an office inside for Sheridan College law enforcement, plenty of meeting space for students to get together and even a pizza oven and pool tables. Officials estimate the renovated and expanded campus center will be open by the fall semester of 2014.
