Firefighters in northwest Wyoming remain on alert for new wildfires after thousands of lightning strikes hit the area over the weekend.
More than 6,700 lightning strikes were recorded Friday through early Monday in Grand Teton National Park, the adjoining Bridger-Teton National Forest and surrounding area.
At least three new wildfires were ignited in the park and four
new fires in the forest.
Rain kept the new fires down, but officials say weather conditions are expected to become drier and breezy, which could stoke any small fires.
