Hundreds turned out Monday for a community celebration commemorating the opening of North Main in Sheridan. WYDOT District Engineer Mark Gillett says that while businesses and motorists may have been inconvenienced at times, now that the project is wrapping up, people will enjoy the finished product for years to come.
The North Main Neighborhood Association worked with WYDOT and the City on the project to help bring some more aesthetically pleasing elements to North Main, such as decorative lighting, benches and the planting of new trees along the street. NMNA Executive Director Dave DeBolt was more than elated to see this project near completion.
The North Main reconstruction project took a year and a half to complete and cost $14 million.
