A new school is probably in Buffalo's very near future, according to Johnson County School District Superintendent Dr. Rod Kessler, who spoke to the Buffalo City Council Tuesday. Here's Aaron Palmer with more.
Kessler said the SFC understood the problem and approved a land purchase last year with the understanding that funding for a new school would be coming this year or next. So the school district purchased eight acres of land from the Buell Trust, which sits roughly in between the new high school and Meadowlark Elementary School along Cemetery Road.
Kessler said he believes funding to plan the new school will be coming soon.
Another issue, Kessler said, is what to do with the old Clear Creek School on Fort Street, which is currently being used for grades 4 and 5. If the school district chooses not to use the facility any longer, the question then is what will become of the building. Kessler explains.
No action was taken and Kessler said he will keep the council updated on the status of the new school and the old Clear Creek School.
