For the past twenty-seven years, The National Association of Town Watch has been hosting “National Night Out” events across the country. Beginning with only about 400 communities that first year, by 2009, 14,625 communities from all fifty states had an event scheduled.
In Sheridan County, both the Sheridan County Sheriff's Office and the Sheridan Police Department have been involved with the program for the past four years. Deputy Mandy Madry with the SO tells us about their event, scheduled for this evening beginning at 6 o'clock at the Tongue River Elementary School.
Madry explains the purpose of National Night Out.
Madry says that with each year they've taken part in National Night Out, the communities in the county have looked forward to hosting the event. She anticipates that the Arvada-Clearmont area will be the site for the 2011 event.
The Sheriff's Office BBQ tonight at the Tongue River Elementary School in Ranchester is free and open to all ages.
