In his closing comments to the legislature Thursday in Cheyenne, Governor Matt Mead thanked lawmakers for their work on the budget and shared news of a delay in scientific peer review of a Pavilion groundwater study.
Mead's comments followed discussions with EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson, and the Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone Tribes. Mead asked Jackson not to draw conclusions without more testing.
Some in Wyoming have fervently questioned the draft report that suggested the gas mining technique known as fracking has polluted groundwater. The scientific peer review had been set to start this month. Mead said that two more rounds of testing will happen by July.
