In a media release issued by the City of Sheridan, it states that Mayor Dave Kinskey will recommend at Monday's City Council meeting that Terry Lenhart be promoted to Fire Chief. Lenhart has been serving as Interim Fire Chief since the consolidation of the position that occurred when Chief Patrick Reitz stepped down earlier this year. The media release indicates that 24 candidates applied for the position and the top five of those were invited to Sheridan to participate in an assessment center in late April.
All five of the candidates passed the assessment, and Mayor Kinskey chose Lenhart from the group of five. Lenhart has more than 20 years of firefighting experience in both Sheridan and Flagstaff, Arizona. He's been with Sheridan Fire-Rescue since 1991. Under state law, the Mayor's recommendation must be confirmed by City Council, which is expected to happen at their next meeting, this upcoming Monday night. If Lenhart's nomination is approved by the Council, he'll be sworn in as Fire Chief at Monday night's meeting in Council Chambers.
