The Sheridan City Council recently passed in increase in the Mayor's salary from $24,000 a year to $48,000. That raise in salary will not go into effect until January 1st, 2013. The salary was lowered several years ago in anticipation of the City hiring an administrator. The Council actually passed an ordinance to hire an administrator, but there were enough people in opposition of the move that it was put to a special election where it was voted down by the people.
Since the Council raised the salary to what it was prior to the special election regarding hiring a city administrator, one would think that the possibility of the city having an administrator is null and void. While there has been no talk of bringing up the issue again by the current Council, Sheridan Mayor Dave Kinskey says that if the administrator position were to come to fruition in Sheridan, there is a caveat in the ordinance that was passed rasing the Mayor's salary.
