GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) - A 21-year-old man accused of blowing up an outhouse while a friend filmed the explosion in the Weston Hills recreation area appeared in court where his bail was set at $5,000.
Authorities say David Everett Smith ignited a beach ball filled with oxygen and acetylene in the outhouse about 25 miles north of Gillete. Authorities say Smith then lit another explosive with the same materials and shot four fire extinguishers that he had put in the outhouse.
Officials estimate the explosives caused more than $14,000 in damage.
Smith faces charges that include property destruction and arson. Police say they found a camera in Smith's home that was used to film the explosions.
Smith appeared in court Friday.
