Coming up this weekend in conjunction with the Second Annual Art Chalk Festival is “Longmire Day” in Buffalo.
Longmire Day is a celebration of everything relating to Longmire, the television series, the books featuring Sheriff Longmire and the local author of the Longmire series of books, Craig Johnson.
The books and the show are all set in fictional Absaroka County, Wyoming and people and places in the fictional series are based on real ones in and around Buffalo.
Rachel McCaughey of the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce explains how Longmire Day began.
Author Craig Johnson will be in front of the Occidental/Busy Bee at 1:30 signing copies of his books, and an artist from the Art Chalk Festival will be creating a Longmire scene on the sidewalk. There will be a Longmire look-alike contest from 2 until 3pm, and some great prizes will be awarded during the contest. Absaroka County Jail will be set up there as well for photo opportunities. And area restaurants will be offering their versions of “the usual,” asked for by Sheriff Longmire at his Busy Bee. The real Busy Bee, the Cantina, Up In Smoke and Bozeman Trail Steakhouse will all have their specials that day.
Celebrate “Longmire Day” in downtown Buffalo this Saturday.
