The troops were out Saturday on the north lawn of the Fulmer Library in Sheridan. Cannon and guns, the soldiers were decked out and ready to give visitors a history lesson. Debbie Iverson coordinated the event.
They were the Fort Phil Kearny Frontier Regulars. Not soldiers from the Civil War Era, but the equipment they used was the same. Seventy-seven year-old Robert Mullen has been part of the Regulars for over ten years and tells us what was on display.
A hands-on history lesson, Amanda Reenders had her children Austin and Jenna there and believes education is all about participation.
And just what did seven year-old Austin learn?
The Fort Phil Kearny Frontier Regulars has a membership of over 25 individuals portraying all aspects of frontier military life and welcomes others to join them.
