At their regular meeting last week, the Johnson County Commissioners approved a number of “housekeeping” Resolutions and contracts.
The commission voted to change the Employee Handbook to comply with standard insurance verbage concerning the use of county vehicles by employees. Resolution No. 457 was approved unanimously.
Clerk of Court Thelma Axberg requested the renewal of the standard contract for child support services. No changes were made to the contract, it has remained the same since 1994. The Commissioners approved the contract renewal.
The county was awarded a $50,000 grant from the state, $25,000 per year for two years, for expenses related to the set up and implementation of a youth mentoring program administered through the County Attorney's office. The commissioners accepted the grant.
Volunteers of America will be using old furniture in the old Criminal Justice Center when they move in later this summer. County Attorney DeCock will draft a Memorandum of Understandingbetween the county and VOA, along with an inventory of furniture so the county knows what county property is being used.
