County Planner Rob Yingling gave a presentation to the new Johnson County Commission Tuesday, updating active and inactive subdivisions, and giving them a rundown of upcoming legislation that may affect his department. Here's Aaron Palmer with more.
The Outlaw Acres Subdivision near Barnum is in need of a revised Subdivision Improvements Agreement. The Planning and Zoning Commission will ask the developer if they are interested in vacating the subdivision, and county attorney Ken DeCock will be consulted on the matter.
In the Basco Creek Subdivision on Hazelton Road, there is a small parcel of land that has existed since prior to the new county subdivision regulations. The parties involved are looking into the possibility of a land swap or sale as the parcel is landlocked with no access.
The Zoning Regulations Project work sessions for January will be on the 11th at 1pm and the 25th at 4pm.
Legislation for the upcoming state session was addressed as well. Yingling explains Senate File 26.
Senate File 47 expands the county commission's authority to declare livestock and feral livestock running at large as a public nuisance.
Representative Mike Madden has a draft bill to clarify language in the Real Estate Subdivision Statute regarding surface and groundwater rights. The bill will not change laws, Yingling said, but clarify existing law.
Finally, no action was taken in December on inactive issues with a boundary adjustment on the Maverick Store property, the Creekside Haven Subdivision, or the sale of lots on Barkey Lane in the Shores at Lake DeSmet Subdivision.
